Problems with Adobe Audition on Vista

I have a new HP Pavilion dv5 laptop, running Vista Home Basic.

I installed Adobe Audition 3.0, but I can’t record anything using an external mic.

This laptop comes with built in microphones. Audition only lets me record with those. But I want to use my Shure mic.

Ok, so I plug it in, and IDT High Definition Audio CODEC recognizes it. I can record with it on Windows’ Sound Recorder just fine. The PC itself has no problems recognizing it. It even shows on the list of recording devices.

Yet, in Audition I can’t select it as a recording device because it only shows the built in microphones.

I also hate that Windows Vista won’t show the recording devices on the mixer, like XP did. I can’t choose the recording devices levels from the mixer.

What can I do? This is frustrating!

I have the same problem (Audition3 on Vista, IDT soundcard). I want to record audio from the internet but I cannot select an input other than ‘built-in microphone’. Any help would be appreciated.

Go edit–> audio hardware setup –> control panel
Click the ‘x’ next to your mic.
I bet you’ll be able to get to your mic. now
Maybe?
