in any experiment in the terms of scientific exploration (this includes psychological studies) there are expected results, or the hypothesis. The deviation is the anticipated amount off of that expected results… to if you hear something like, “… the results will be 60%, plus or minus 5%”. So if the actual answer found through testing is anywhere between 55% and 65%, then the answer fell withing the standard or the experimental deviation. That’s my understanding anyway.
