iPod help: I am selling my old ipod and I want to know if it’s okay to leave my songs on it. - Help.com

I am selling my old ipod and I want to know if it’s okay to leave my songs on it.

My friend who is buying it wants the songs left on. My itunes has all those songs, so will I be able to put them on a new ipod? or does it not work like that..

Its fine, you may get a better price for it. And yes, the music is on you computer, any ipod you plug into your computer can be synced to have you computers tunes on it. Dont worry.

It would be wrong for you to give your freinds the ipod with the songs on it, and then use them again on your new Ipod.

I dont use Itunes so I have no idea if they have a way to check that you have done this.

It can not be checked. Think, if you owned an ipod touch and a nanno….. You could still have the same music on both.

And when your mate puts his “new” ipod into his computer it will ask “do you want to get rid of whats on here and synk with his/her music.

I promiss Dar11, its fine

yea, if you bought the songs then it’s fine. do whatever you want with them. the only thing you can’t do it sell them again. so in other words, you can’t sell the ipod for more just because it has songs on it.

Technically that is incorrect; when you buy a song; all you are doing a buying the rights to listen to that song. You are prohibited from distributing that song to others whether for a fee or for free. You are also prohibited from using the song in a manner not stated in the fine print.
