I think Dr. House used to be a mod… not sure though, ’cause I dont really know him.

Me! although I think maybe I am a little too forgiving for the position. Bogdan might be a good one, he seems very level headed.

I’m pretty sure Dr. House used to be a Mod.

I think Delicious Haro should be a mod because she likes a Holy Raspberry and realizes the wonderfulness of calculators.

I am not in favour of this type of “let’s pretend we don’t know that there is a mod space free, I just happen to be hinting…” type of post.

It seems to me, if you want to be a mod, just say so, rather than trying to get people to nominate you in this oblique way.

By the way, the position is not free, that mod will be back, I have no doubt.

The situation with a mod, is still unresolved, but it seems to me that a lot of people are very quickly trying to vie for that position. That is not what this site is about.

The conversation started with use coming up with ways to reduce trolling, then came to say we need an ever vigilant mod. Then we talked about who that might be. We didn’t even know mas was gone till after we had gotten some names for possible ones.

you see, i have only the opposing team’s reasons as of now, I have emailed her to no avail.
also, I do not like to see this as an “open position” because mods are at some quota. there can be however more or less mods that the admins feel like. heck, if i were an admin during this, i would not say anything about mods and would not assign new ones until much longer.
people just waltz up and claim they can controll the power and that they have the time to do such a big job, yet they know nothing off the difficulties of being a mod. especially on this site
mods need to be unbiased and total in their work of bans and alerts, yet, they also must show compassion towards the other members, this being a site for help and all.
they must also check through lots of reports and alerts, many being false and just a waste of their own time. They must put all of that forward and still at least try to be a helpful and intelligent person like the non mods, whose job it is to help others as well.
They also have to use their power and abilities for only the positive points, beating back the want to use such power to snoop and attempt to mod beyond their own domain.
what happened, apparently, was a loss of that balance.
perhaps curiosity, perhaps some power hunger.
whatever lead to the said snooping, if said snooping did even occur, was wrong and confused.
Mas1st was a great person, a helpfull person.
she was the first to assist me in my first post here on help.com (which looking back was mostly overreacting and obviously throwing stuff out of proportions) and the first person to teach me that I cannot give up just because of some stupid depression.
I hope she eventually returns, in one form or another.

personally id love to be a mod, but i think sam has a lot of hype in becoming the next mod… If there is one

The site is going through changes … what if they had a “guest-mod” position you could do for a day or two? The general role is not the difficult thing, it’s just how it’s set up here that there are so few moderators they have to do some pretty amazing work to do it.
