its like saying oy vey, the h is silent always in spanish…..i know a lot about Spansh, Time, Numbers, Math,Greetings, Moths, Days, Birthdays, Holidays
yes the y sounds like j.
The H is silent in spanish, so you end up with ‘oy’
impuerto rican i speakl spanish everyday the “h” is silent so u are left with “oy”
so it would sound like a spanish short o right? like in ‘boat’ and the j would sound like an english ‘j’ i can’t explain this very well
i guess an example would be would it sound like ‘oj as in orange juice, shortened term oj’, or a ‘dragged j that kind of falls of your tongue?’ im sorry, i dont know how else to explain this.
no not that j from juice
very difficult indeed… Let me think of a word
i thought you said it sounded like a j?
No because I speak dutch, and in dutch you pronounce ‘j’ as the ‘y’ from ray
i dont know, but some Spanish speakers pronounce ‘Y’ as J letter in english, and other pronounce it as ‘Y’ in english or ‘I’ in spanish.
my spanish teacher told us ‘Y’ is always pronounced as ‘J’ in english except if it comes in the end of the word so its pronounced as ‘Y’ in english.
its confusing!
