When I have friends over, my parents prefer them to call them by their first names instead of Mr.

and Mrs. (our last name). Are most parents like this?

Personally, Im not up to being called Ma’am Id rather they called me by my first name, just because Im not very formal :-)

Yeah, in my experience they are.

Mr & Mrs is quite formal and, therefore, rather cold and unwelcoming.
Your parents are just trying to be friendly is all.

Yep step those are my feeling too, Im not being foreword just friendly, our house is a relaxed atmosphere, bit crazy at times but hey come at your own risk ;-)

my friends call my parents “aunt ___” and “uncle ___”… not like they see them much lol

It really all depends on the generation. When I was a kid, friends of my parents were called “uncle” and “aunt” as a sign of trust, but with my friends’ parents, it would be “Mr.” and “Mrs.”. Manners were a big thing in my family. Though, their were some who I was allowed to call by their first name too. It all depends on how comfortable they, and you are, really.
