I went there with my friend in january of ‘06. We were there for 3 weeks. he went last year with his brother an a bunch of friends. He had to go back to finish his tattoo (his entire back) I told him i’d go with him the second time around. It is a kick *** country and the people are really friendly. How long do you plan on going for? how come by yourself?
for like a week, because its really hard to find traveling friends so i decided to go bymyself… any suggestions?
It depends on what you wanna do.
If you’re going to the beaches, go to somewhere like Phuket, and Krabi. The beaches there are clean, and they’re also pretty.
If you wanna shop or be in a big city, go to Bangkok, the BTS Skytrain will make the transportation easier saving you some money
i want to go to the beaches, go to the city and meet people my age there, im 22..
I suggest goin to Chiang Mai or Ko Samui. both great places. you could take a plane to either from bangkok, but its a ten hour bus ride to chiang mai and like a 24 hour train ride from bangkok to the port that will take you by boat to Ko samui if you go that route.
Phuket has great beaches along with Ko Samui. Ko Samui is like the hawaii of thailand. lol, a week just isnt long enough there, so much to see an do. I cant wait till i go back :)
To get around town, you will either have to go back Tuk Tuk (taxi type thing) or rent a motorbike though.
Krabi is my favorite…
But if you wanna do all of that in 5 days… I think Phuket is the best for you.

I think Tuk Tuk would be easier.
I would definitely take care of all your living arrangements now once you decide where you want to be. its pretty cheap there as well. cant go wrong with Phuket.
any hotel/resort that you would recommend?? is my very first time traveling…
lol, anything with 5 stars. I cant remember the places i stayed at, i sort of bounced around a lot.
My family usually stays at Dusit.
I’m not sure if the location is good or not, but here’s the website for that hotel

i bought it already!! but i havent read it just yet :P
How much $ you plan on takin? I went with about $2300 an including flight and came back with money to spare.
about the same
im spending like 1200 on the tickets, im planning on taking like 2000 to spend
i know is pretty cheap over there
That should be plent of cash for you while your there. Drink only bottled water though :)
why?????????
Watch out for ice too, ice with a hole in it is ok, I go to phuket twice a year, been there 9 times, well worth going, don’t rent a moped unless you don’t mind dying.
lol, yeah, i had a few close ones on the Moped myself, but thats part of bein young an stupid i guess
Oh yeah, on the roads there, there are basically no rules except one important one, if someone flashes their headlights at you as you both approach an intersection, it means get out of their way they’re not going to stop, unlike here in ireland where it means you go ahead.
hey im from Mexico!!
well, tomorrow i go to thailand :) thanks for all you help!!
i came back!! it was awesome! but i hated the food and it made me sick
lol, that’s funny coming from a mexican, the home of naturally occurring laxatives and fart fuel.
but i dont like spicy food thou, never have
