Which protests against government decisions actually make an impact?
I wonder because recently in the UK approx 5000 rallied the Israeli embassy due to the situation in Gazza. 500 000 protested against the war in Iraq with an even bigger base of home support yet we still went to war. What does it take to change a government decision to go to war? Is it possible? Do the people in power who profit from war ultimately have complete control of the population? If someone who opposes war comes up with a way to stop it - stop going to war and inciting hate by stealing resources. Would that become a new policy or laughed at by the greedy weapons manufacturers and politicians who support them. Anyone heard of a protest changing anything? Just wondering if I need to work for the government to help make positive changes or work in a charity. Your advice and thoughts/stories would be appreciated.
