How do black rappers talk to one another off camera?

Any ideas? I’m writing a story for my Master’s program and the story requires a scene in which one guy (kinda the lil’wayne type if I HAD to pick someone out there to compare him to) is trying to get his friend (idk . . more the . . Kanye West or P.Diddy type musician, less tats and nicer suits than lil’wayne type . . . -hides-) to come out of his room and talk to a police officer about something, but the guy in the room (kanye west/p.diddy) is upset and not scared to talk to the police, but knows he did it and feels really guilty because it was an accident. He didn’t mean to kill his best friend.

I know this sounds so racist . . . but really I don’t mean for it to sound that way. I’m asking this because everytime I write the scene I feel like my characters either sound boring or completely wrong, or sound WAY to ghetto and stereotyped . . .

lmao god . . . I agreed with you at first, that they would talk to one another a little more normally . . . however all I can find on youtube or mtv or such is them well . . . being like that . . . no way they can be that way 24.7 though . . .

This really is a serious question! How the hell would Lil’Wayne try to get Kanye West to come out of his room after Kanye had accidentally killed someone? x.x

Being like what?

Also, Kanye talks as normally as every other American. Being a rapper doesn’t mean he speaks some mystical language that other people can’t understand. This is probably why you’re stuff comes out stereotyped and overly ghetto. You watch too much TV.

Probably the same way you do to your mates. Or maybe not.

If you need to ask for a Master’s degree…wouldn’t that involve some real research? You know, actually experiencing it?

You’re asking for second-hand experience (mostly) from a bunch of people who are opinionated enough to log on to help.com!

You don’t have to do research for creative writing classes . . . just have to be able to write short stories/novels. I guess I got myself into this by choosing to write the story I did . . . I could have written about something I knew more about . . but I really like the idea behind this one! x.x

Although im black i dont know any rappers but most of it is a front for the cameras. Whether it be for a music video or behind the scenes. Where theres a camera theres an act…. So like Green Knight said you have to experience it yourself. Or know how black guys talk to one another. I will admit we (black ppl in general) dont talk like whites but we dont sound that ghetto. Unfortunately though some do depending on where they grew up. But like someone said earlier most of them have degrees and speak perfect english

Rick Ross (who raps about drugs and such) use to be a correctional officier. He denied it for some time but he came clean not too long ago. So you will be surprised at how much they lie in their songs… Most if not all lie to get recognition or respect i guess you can say

Guess I showed my race in this question . . ey? I work in a gasstaion and know several black guys that come in there all the time. I figured most of it was a front for the cameras . . . too bad I cant find any hidden footage where someone filmed lil’wayne and he didnt know it . . x.x
