Swimming help: I’m in High school and we’ve got swimming in pe next, - Help.com

This post left anonymously

I’m in High school and we’ve got swimming in pe next, but i can’t get out of the pool without using the steps (which you can’t use at school).

Does anyone know an easier way to lift yourself out of the pool without either smacking your hipbones onto the side or falling back in? :S.

btw, i can’t go to a public pool to practise… :S

Also, I need to loose some weight really quickly from my stomach, is there any way to do this?

any help would be appreciated!

Just put your hands on the side & push down on the edge, so you force yourself up, until you can lift your knees up to the edge.
Don’t be nervous about your weight, I did swimming as a part of my P.E gcse & I was, and am overweight, it went fine but I was really really nervous before I did it but it was fine.

Anytime. You could practice a similar movement on a wall that is the height of your torso or something. I climb walls the same way I do get out of pools without steps, if that makes sense..

I’d talk to your PE teacher about this. They may have run into this situation before and have an idea about it.

As far as losing weight goes, you can’t really target weight loss to one area, but you can strengthen your abs and your obliques (on the sides of your abs), which will provide a slimmer profile. Yoga and Pilates are great ways to strengthen your torso muscles. You can find some info online about them, and the equipment is either nothing or not expensive (like a ball). However, if you want to make faster progress talk to a personal trainer for a workout tailored to you — this gets faster results and reduces the chance of injuries.

Beware of schemes to lose weight quickly, because they often result in the loss of muscle, which actually makes a person less healthy and makes real fat loss harder.
