My computer hates me, please help.

The past couple of weeks haven’t been great when it comes to this stupid computer. I was preparing to upgrade and wanted to delete any unnecessary items that were simply taking up space and memory. One of the things I deleted was my music files cuz it was all on my player, but the next time I hooked up my music player to the computer, it deleted 90% of my music, and the stuff it left only plays about 30 sec of the song or skips alot. So I began re-downloading the songs, but then the computer wouldn’t recognize the device, and when I upgraded, EVERYTHING got erased. Starting from scratch I’ve re-re-downloaded more songs, but the stupid computer still doesn’t recognize the device and I’m not sure what to do.
Any ideas? I’ll try anything at this point.

Hmm. If the device has a utility for resetting it to factory settings, I’d try that. Or, if it came with a cd, use that.
