Sound card question

Hi.

Got a new hard drive and installed XP on it, and my sound doesn’t work.
It’s onboard and Realtek, the drivers have installed from the disk that came with the motherboard (MSI) and I have tried various things such as uninstall/reinstall drivers, updating, and am just really at my wits end with it.
The computer is acting like the drivers aren’t there though, because previously, I had a small Realtek icon in the taskbar and now it doesn’t show up.
Anyone know what to do please?

Cheers

Download this program and install it. Now you need to go to the device manager and uninstall the driver for your sound Realtec after you uninstall it use the registry cleaner in CClener, its very user friendly, then reboot. Now install the driver again and make sure that the speaker jack is plugged into the right socket. Hope this helps :-)

Hmm didn’t think of trying CCleaner. And yeah the speaker jack is in the right socket lol. I’ll give it a go when I get in from college tomorrow. Too late at the moment to be messing around with stuff lol. Cheers :)

Didn’t work. However, I have borrowed a mates USB speakers and they work, which is weird. All the cables and stuff are connected, unless the cable is defected or something.
