Ok,
So I ordered a photograph from an artist I admire very much. He sells his prints online for $35. He took about 1 month to get back to me after I sent payment via PayPal, saying that he was busy with a tour. It’s totally understandable. Unfortunately, I had started a claim with PayPal that resulted in me getting $33 of my money back. The artist apologized for the delay and said he would throw in a 2nd picture for free as compensation. I told him I would send him the money as soon as the pictures arrived. Lo and behold, I get the pictures about a week later and… there’s only 1. That would be ok, I guess, IF IT WERE THE RIGHT PICTURE! He’s in the UK now, touring, so I know I won’t get the right picture I ordered for months, and I can’t exactly return the picture he sent me ’cause it has my name on it. (He autographed it for me.)
Here is the question: What do I do? Send him $33 for a picture I don’t really like… (I really don’t like it!) Or do I just let it go, accept that I paid $2 for a picture I didn’t want and move on with my life? Do I send him money for the print, anyway? After all, he did pay to get it printed and shipped.
My gut says, talk to him and try to work it out. But I know he can’t exactly take the pic back ’cause it has my name on it. And even if he could, he’s on tour, so I would need to wait a reaaallly long time to get this taken care of.
My brain says, **** it. Just let it go.
What do I do???
