broken help: I broke my camera. - Help.com

I broke my camera.

It fell off a table, onto it’s lens. The lens isn’t cracked and everything else looks good, except when i turn it on, the lens makes a funny noise and wont move.

What should i do?
Repair it? How much would it cost?
Or get a new one?
It’s an Olympus SP-560 UZ. I bought it over the summer for about $400.

:(
I’m a photography major too.

Are you looking for information on uploading an avatar or why you aren’t recieving notices on tags you’re subscribed too?

Unfortunately both of these features have been disabled until further notice. Looks like you’ll have to stick with your “letter of the alphabet” avatar. You can also Contact us with any other issues you have.

Take it in and see what it will cost. I suggest that you don’t drop it on the floor any more, never does them any good. Hope this helps :-)

Sounds like the motor that moves the lense in and out is dead! Since its accidental damage, you’ll have had to purchase an accidental damage warranty…if you didn’t get that, it could be the same amount you bought the camera for to repair it! It’ll be cheaper to just buy another camera :P

I agree get a canon! :D

Warranties are only on default product and don’t cover dropping the camera on the floor. Hope this helps :-)
