Have you had your eyes checked?

i’m in my 20’s and I still suffer from this.

You have to just work through it. You could try a little sugar candy, a little at a time.

Things to avoid:
Eating right before you study
Staying up too late

Many people feel sleepy whenever they have to do homework (or other non-physical activities that they don’t want to do) it is simply the body / brain desiring physical stimulous. School requires dedication because very few ever truly love to do homework. Most people (especially younger people) want to go out and be actively invovled with their friends and / or their personal entertainment such as sports, movies, games, etc…
To help you combat the drowsiness I would agree with soc0ut that you should avoid trying to study after eating because you are naturally going to be tired and drowsy while the body digests your food. Getting a good amount of sleep at night also helps keep you fully functioning while you do things you’d rather not do. I would also advise doing your homework right when you get home while your still in the “learning” mode. If you put it off to hang out with your friends you’ll find it harder and harder to work up the desire to do the work. Definately don’t do it right before bed because then you will fall asleep after all and have to finish it on the bus. :-)

My 15 yr old son listens to music while he studies. As strange as it sounds, it keeps him alert and he is able to study more effectively. I’m not sure if it for everyone, but he gets good grades.

Classical music is perhaps best for this. Or any non-lyrical songs.
