Money help: How badly is this credit crunch affecting people? - Help.com

The credit crunch is not affecting me at all; My business and personal debt and use of credit are kept in check.

The only direct effect it has had on me is that one of my credit cards had it’s limit slightly reduced because I hadn’t used it in over a year. The terms on the cards I do use (and pay off each month) haven’t been changed at all. Also, I know one bank employee who was laid off because the bank closed their whole division.

Other than that, not much impact on me. My only debt right now is a very old mortgage that is perfectly safe with me, and some student debt.

Of course, the increases in state and federal deficits are likely to have some indirect effects on all of us. However, it is hard to trace the effects of those in detail, and I am not sure that they have actually hit me yet.

Oh my goodness. This is a very difficult question. On the surface, I could say that because I do not use credit, the crunch is not changing my life, but of course, we are all dealing the results of the crunch on many levels. How deeply do you wish to delve into this complex problem?
