What am I supposed to be doing with my life?

I need some help deciding a career path. Problem is that I am gifted in so many areas that I do not know which path to take. I have a natural talent for drawing. A passion for music. I play the guitar and would love to learn how to play the piano. I love to write literature and poetry. I love speaking in front of large groups. I love to perform and feel a natural high every time I do. I love helping people. I can build websites and repair apple computers and edit film. And thats is just a few of the things I can do. So, how does that align with my life? Any suggestions?

you should do the one you love the most and the one you have the most passion for.

Wow! You’re so multi-talented. Do what you love best and what would feed you best. You choose a career and still pursue your other talents on a side line. SO you won’t waste any of your talent.

Your main career should be the one you love the most, would assure you of a good and steady income, one you can imagine doing for the rest of your life…It’s not just a career. It’s a life.

I am the exact same way and I looked at this post as if I had written the words (same interests and everything!). Everyone always told me it is a blessing to be a Jack-of-all-trades, but I believe it just makes career choices that much more difficult and most people cannot understand that.

The things that I would choose as my 1st love are vast, and unfortunately they are also financially undependable. The arts are the hardest to make a decent and reliable career out of, so instead, I have wound up with 3 degrees and I am wasting my life behind a desk doing things that do not feed or fuel my passions.

I CAN do just about anything (as I am sure you can as well), but it doesn’t mean that I should or want to do the things I’m good at. But I have to make money to eat and pay my mortgage and have benefits and retirement right?

I do not have a helpful answer for you as I am in the same boat, I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. It seems sometimes that this world is not conducive to happiness and success for the Jacks-of-all-trades.

I wish you all the luck and bravery in the world and if you figure out how to do this, please please share it with the rest of us!
