Well it is usually a good idea to clear up any misunderstandings whenever they happen but that depends on if you like to be seen in a nice light or you don’t care if people hate you.

Well without knowing what happend I can’t really say. However, if she rushed off before you could explain then you need to let her calm down first and then talk to her when she is willing to talk. If she isn’t willing to talk you can write her a letter explaining the situation and make it clear what the misunderstanding is so she at least knows what the disconnect between the two of you is.
