work help: I was referred by my Doctor for Cognative Behavioural Therapy - Help.com

I was referred by my Doctor for Cognative Behavioural

Therapy years ago, now I have a letter saying my name has only now reached the top of the waiting list and have to attend the local psychiatric hospital a week on Tuesday. Does anyone have experience of this type of therapy?

I do however have another problem, I often attend this hospital in a professional capacity, and will indeed be there later that day for a meeting relating to one of my clients who is elderly with dementia. I feel it is adding more stress to the situation, I don’t know what I will do if any of my work friends see me there as an out patient. Any advice is welcome.

You make it seem like work comes before your own mental health.. :-(

Do you feel that you still need therapy? i.e I don’t know what it’s for, but if you had trouble with anxiety, insomnia or a mood disorder, do you still need the help?

Or, do you even still want the help?

Can you re-scedule either meeting? So that they don’t happen on the same day?

And why help keep mental disorders/problems a stigma? Why not be open about it? why hide??

If you need the therapy and if you can’t re-scedule, take the high road and hold your head up high. You’ve got nothing to be ashamed by.

Well waiting a little over 2 hours for a reply and not automatically recieving one doesn’t give too many people time to do any kind of research to help answer your question
