Personality Profilers! - Help.com

Personality Profilers!

For the second time in a row, I’ve been denied a job soley because of my ‘personality profiler’ test results.

In both instances, I was perfectly qualified, passed two interviews, and proceed to the seemingly trivial personality/interest profiler test, and background check.

Then these tests will lump me into some statistical no-go catagory and I lose the job!

And these tests have ambiguous questions, like “I am not afraid to tell someone off”. Do you agree, or disagree? Are you fearful, or unprofessional?

Plus, they are timed, and the last one I took was online. I got at *least* five or six page timeout errors, that had a negative impact on my score!

I work my butt off: buy new clothes, get a haircut, research & practice interview questions. I get up early, drive across town, look great, and do very well on two interviews…

Just to be rejected by a computer.

What a horrible, lame, and depressing way to be let go.

Well let me see, Are you applying for the job that wants you to kiss a## or the one telling everyone else to. It is important that you give the right answer, because the wrong one ejects you.

It was a supervisor position, so I agreed. ‘Not afraid’. But who knows what they want.

Maybe you should try being honest and see where it gets you:)

Post a replyI was more honest on the first one.

To be totally honest would have meant showing my low self esteem, etc.

Aren’t there people hiring based on low self esteem?

Roflmao. If I can make a suggestion, not to sound like an ***, but you could beg for a chance at the job if you think you’re well qualified.

I hate taking those quizzes and they’re like almost the same for every job. What I do is tell them what they want to hear… Maybe you should try that.

Thank you, but that’s what I did on the most recent one; while I was more-or-less honest on the first. I failed both.

If anything, I think I might be taking too long. I spent over two hours on the first (which was 6 pages, written), and over an hour on the second (100 questions).

Maybe that’s it then? Don’t dwell too long on it, just answer them quickly with more or less what you know they want to hear. It sucks that we even have to be talking about this as you should have been hired because you were qualified. Stupid tests…
