Love help: is the saying - Help.com

is the saying

“if u love something set it free, if it was yours it will return, if it doesn’t it was never yours to begin with”

(or whatever it is) does anyone believe this is true?

i think its a good saying to live by. you shouldn’t cling on to something or someone you love, its not healthy. you should live your life and let them live theirs, and if they still want to be yours, then its meant to be. if not, then move on. that’s how i take it.

It’d be a persons opinion to be honest. Everyones going to think differently about it.

But my opinion is that I guess it’s good to live by like kat said. But it’s not true all the time.
I mean yeah, if you love something it doesn’t mean you got to hold on to or keep an eye on it 24/7. thats when if you set it free (giving them space) you’ll find out if they’re really true. Which would be them returning. And if they don’t, it was never yours or it was never supposed to happen in the first place. :]
Mainly, everything happens for a reason.

Thats sad, because I had to set my 4 year live in girlfriend free when she packed up her stuff and left me without any explanation.. all i could remember is how much I “thought” love we both shared.. She never returned and according to your ditty, that it meant we should have never been hooked up at all…I am a little confused because maybe love for some of us is sooo powerful we cant handle it, and it was meant to be despite the tragic ending…Despite that it was meant to be so is it that the end is also meant to be…….eeee I still morn her leaving me…..Rob
