Help with Prozac

Hello, if you would first like to know a little about me, please fee free to review previous posts by me.

On Saturday night I had suicidal thoughts, intensified, so I called a hotline and they told me to go to the ER.

I grabbed my roommate into my room, showed him my arm (marked to relieve pain not kill myself), and off we went.

I went to a mental health clinic and returned this afternoon. I was given Prozac, Anavin, and Albien. I was diagnosed with Severe Major Depression.

I’m not a looney or anything, just very sad. I was told Prozac was really going to help me, but I haven’t felt anything (its only been 3 days).

Can anyone tell me what I should expect, prepare for, or be excited about? Will I really be my old and happy, social self again?
(I’m 22 year old male, working full time. Also, not on any other medication. Blood tests came absolutely perfect results)

From my own personal experience-Prozac put me in a zombie like state.
i was not interested in anything at all and I was kinda emotionless, I threw away the bottle and went to disney world with my brother and his family-course that was about 16 years ago so they might have improved.

Then again a friend of mine was on it for a few months and it did nothing for her, this was recent, I think it may have made her a little spacey-she ended up chucking them too.

Prozac alters the chemicals in your brain. Often times it will make you more depressed befor it balances everything out. It’s aweful for a few weeks but after that it’s a godsend. Just hang in there things will be ok.

It’s been a little more than two weeks…I honestly can’t tell if this is working. I was actually in a very great mood today at work, so much so that people have noticed. However, I’ve been home now for at least 40 minutes and feel absolutely horrible. My roomates are in the living room while I’ve locked myself in my bedroom and flushed with very self-negative thoughts as if I had never taken these meds, and worse. I feel very depressed, I really can’t put it into other words. I have my first appointment with a psyche regarding meds on March 4, but that is ways away.
