Lost my job …
I have never been fired, or been in the situation where I have been asked to leave. Today, for the first time in my life, I was. I realize that the situation wasn’t going well with my co-workers, but I am still a bit shocked. I received two raises, one of them being solely for my performance and the other an annual review. I was one of the top-paid employees in my department, in the shortest amount of time being employed. I am lost as to what happened.
I was the only male in an all-female environment, which I knew from the outset would be difficult. Since the end of December, things seemed to be simmering with an air of animosity. Then in January, everything seemed to explode all at once. Towards the end of a scheduled shift, I had two of my co-workers, only three were scheduled that night, very upset with me. It became increasingly difficult to do my job that night, and I finally confronted both of them, individually, to find out what the problem was. After gaining no headway, one of them finally stated, “Well if you can’t change your attitude, you might as well leave.” Prior, I had asked her, “What have I said or done to you to make you upset?” All I got in response was my attitude was poor. Feeling exhausted of all efforts, I finally told her she was probably right, and left the working area to call my boss. I called my boss to explain the situation and then told him I didn’t know what to do.
In response, I was told to come by the next day to discuss things. I did and was told we would conference with the other employee, the one the problem seemed to originate with, later that afternoon. When I returned, all of my co-workers, seven total, walked in for a two-hour escapade to explain to me what an awful person I was. I stayed working there for the next ~30 days, until today.
