girls help: This is a serious question about a girl’s private parts. - Help.com

This is a serious question about a girl’s private parts.

So, this is sort of embarrassing, but I’m in need of answers. First of all, I’m not sexually active, and have never been. I have my periods irregularly, and I don’t know why. There are some months when it’s regular but some that it’s not. Maybe it’s because I’ve only had it for three years, but I’m not entirely sure. Yesterday, I felt like I was having my period (which is normal since it’s been a month since my last one), so I went to the bathroom to put on a tampon. I discovered that I didn’t have my period. It was weird though because throughout the day, I actually did feel like I had my period since vaginal discharge is coming out (or what I think is vaginal discharge).

I had a pounding headache last night, and I practically slept the whole night off, and this morning when I went to the bathroom, I felt a gush of liquid again, and I check to see what it was and I saw that it was clear, sticky liquid and not blood.

So what I wnated to know, was, is this normal? This never happened before, and I’m quite concerned. Some serious answers would be helpful, thanks!

I’d give it a day or two. If it’s causing you pain, than see a doctor immediately. Yeah irregular periods are quite common for most girls. The headaches and discharge suggest that it might just be lead up to you getting your period, but again, if it worries you, see a doctor.

The clear sticky fluid is normal - you are most likely ovulating. The discharge you see will change in consistency thru out your cycle. It will be thick and opaque at times and clear and quite stretchy in consistency as well.

Irregular periods are quite common but I recommend that you speak with your mother or other trusted adult about seeing a doctor, it is better on a woman to have normal cycles and there is medicines that can help. (yes, the pill is one of them).

If the discharge is off color / smell, you may have a yeast infection and this should be addressed right away.

Hope this helps you.

That sounds pretty normal. That’s happened to me before. I’ll think it’s started, only to find nothing. This usually happens a few days to a week before it actually starts.

The clear sticky stuff is discharge and thats normal before your period. As long as its clear (not some funky color like green, yellow, or white) your fine.

Periods don’t really become regular until your over 20 and even then they can still do some funny stuff.
