Question for those who are network/computer saavy!

!
I have a wireless linksys router, I also have a belkin usb wireless card so my desktop can go wireless, I have a ps3…. for some reason my ps3 can’t get into anything on my computer I have music in my public shared folder, so I tried hooking up my router and going wireless but it seems I can hook my router up…. but then my net goes down because I can’t get an internet signal… I’ve tried running the easy advisor thing but I really understand squat about it…. all I want to do is get my computer and my ps3 to share files together I’ve done it before when everything was wired…. now that I’m wireless it’s a nightmare so can someone explain to me how I can possibly get my router to get internet signal wirelessly since it’s a wireless router, which i went wireless with the easy advisor or just explain to me how the hell to get my ps3 and my computer to play nice together… if possible try to make it as painless as possible seeing as I suck at leet speak when it comes to technology

It sounds like each of your computers can see the internet, but they can’t see each other. Right?

If that is the case, try this:

On each computer, right click on “My Computer” -> Properties to bring up the System Properties dialog. Select the Computer Name tab.

Now look at the Workgroup property. Both Computers need to be in the same workgroup to share files.

There’s lots of possibilities, but that is the likely one based on your description of the problem.

Let us know if that works…

I can share files with my husband from my computer, but I cant with the ps3 I don’t see it on my network and my ps3 doesn’t see my computer on the network yet… we are on the same network
