With the new SSD’s coming on line in a reasonable capacity

format, and after a recent review about data loss over time, I’m wondering how reliable SSD’s are in conserving their data storage? Will backups be a thing of the past?

People should still do backups. No matter how reliable the primary storage device is, there is always a chance of losing it to external forces, such as fire.
