I don’t have a clue. Maybe put an add in the paper to get started, or get a facebook group going first. tell everyyone which state you are from, and your aspirations. bulletin boards help get congregations started in small towns.

Dove7: I am in South West Florida

Barbyman: I do have an honest job and right now I am running this out of my own pocket. My goal is not to get money from people it is to give to the people (women and children specifically) in my community that are at high risk or in need. The area that I live in is currently listed as the worst economic area in the US right now… I see it every day when I go to work… I just want to help and I am trying to get the most for my money (exposure wise) so that I can help impact the lives of the most people.

facebook will give you exposure. It’s on the net. if you have access anyway, create a group. Whatever religion or church you plan on using could be the title for your group. make people ask to be allowed to join or you will have whackos trying to tell you to worship pollen or some other thing.

Thanks Dove7… I started a myspace page…but I haven’t had any lead from that yet. I have a website and I am getting a little traffic there. I also posted an ad on GoogleAds… which has had a few clicks…I posted on Craigslist as well. Like I said, I am just looking to get the most exposure so that I can help the most people… Thanks again!!! and God Bless for the advice

South West Florida? Try dual language local papers, put adds in barber shops, malls, try local women’s shelters. Women need help with babysitting while learning a new skill for new jobs….try to approach through these fields.

beatricegalant: Thank you so much… I never thought about putting flyers in busineses… due to my job I already have connections with the womens shelters in the area. I am looking into purchasing door hangers and going around in lower income neighborhoods and hanging them on doors? any thoughts on doing that?

I don’t know about door hangers…if that would work. What about offering your services in hospitals for the dying? They have family members there too, word of mouth. Do you have your own church or a place of worship?

I have a place to hold services but I haven’t started doing that yet… not enough members. I would consider going to hospitials… I will have to contact my local hospitals and see how I would go about doing that…good idea…thanks so much

So you would have to build up your congregation. What types of people live there, the majority? Spanish speaking, elderly, younger ones, young families with tons of kids, single mothers…tell me more.

HHHUUUMMM… Well I would say there is a pretty good mix… It used to be a retirement area but now there are a lot of families. Hispanic and Haitian… but a good mix of white as well. This areas only real job market was construction. Now it is unemployment. The NY Times just did an article on the area… here is the link

If you want you can take a look at my site. The only comment that I have received so far was from a friend that said I needed to add pictures. If you have time and want to take a look and let me know what you think I should change, add, etc.

I saw your site, interesting. Who is the Our Lady of Ephesians? I am sure you know Paul didn’t write the letter to the Ephesians. Yes, you would need to put pictures as “proof” of what you do for the people. Take pictures how you help the helpless and post them. It looks a lot like internet church if you know what I mean. There are ministers but there is no congregation or activities with them posted. I know, you don’t have them yet. So next time when you do something, ask someone to take pictures of. You have to make your site more people friendly as you stated you are helping but there is no examples of how. Also, have you thought about registering your ministry as a charitable ministry? If someone wants to donate, they will get tax receipts? You accept donations but today people are suspicious. They won’t donate to a site who claims to be a ministry to help people but they don’t know anything about and don’t know where their money will go. Also, there are lots of spelling mistakes on your site (correct them to make it more professional). I didn’t mean to sound to critical, I am just trying to help. Please accept my apologies if I offended you in any way.
