depression help: I need help and advice. - Help.com

I need help and advice.

So i do ODP soccer and for an upcoming event, the coach selected 18 players. I was not included, I was included on the alternate list. I was so pissed! In the last tournament, I scored 3 goals and busted my butt off. The coaches were highly impressed and loved me. Most of the players on the list of 18 didn’t do anything to deserve a spot. I’m better than most of the people on the list of 18 and I don’t know what to do now. My parents are putting me down and I’m getting depressed. It’s really unfair. I need advice. Please help. Thank You.

Ok so the most important thing for you right now is….how you respond.
So you were not included in the team this time…that’s fine but how you take this and how you go on from here is hugely important. If you whine and moan and complain to people that you were better than anyone and should have been selected you will get no where. Shrug it off, if your friends ask just say yeah didn’t make it, kinda gutted but Im gonna keep working at it.
First things first ask questions, speak to your coach. Be polite and respect his position and decision but let him know that you were really disappointed and want to know why you weren’t selected this time round and what you can do (where your weakness lie) to improve and get back on the squad.
This will show your coach you’ve a great attitude, a desire to improve and that your competitive, everything a coach needs in a player.
Also analyse yourself. If you feel that you are weak in a certain area then do some extra training by yourself to address the problem.
I didn’t get selected for my college team last year, so i went out did extra training asked the manager for some local clubs that i could play with in the mean time and if i could come back for the trials next year.
I got young player of the season for the local club and got selected in the trails this year. Be positive, see this as an opportunity to improve your game and really develop as a player.
