Hi everyone,

Since this is the speech section, I thought it would be the perfect place to ask about speech impediments, etc. I stutter and I wanted to know if anyone else on here stuttered too or also had a speech impediment. And if so what kinds of techniques do you use while speaking (like talking fast or slow)? And what do you do to cope with your speech impediment?

No, I don’t. But you could try to practice, like when you don’t have anything to do, you can try to keep your throat wet and just sound them out slowly.

I’ve taken speech therapy when i was five, then i stopped. then, i took it again in high school for four years. I have times when I am really fluent and other times when it is really difficult to get two words out. But, I really haven’t practiced all that much in my free time since I stopped taking therapy, so I’ll try it.. Thanks..

They think I have MS and sometimes i trip over my tongue. That is the only way I can describe it. It’s like I try to get a word out but my tongue is busy doing cartwheels. It has only been going on for a few months and the only one so far that has noticed is my oldest son. I haven’t told anyone but him about the MS thing. I imagine that sooner or later I’ll probably have to get some speech therapy though.

basically if you hear yourself talking, heres an example actually. You have an earpiece that recieves the audio that would be from a microphone attached to your shirt,When you hear yourself talking in the speaker in your ear,you wouldnt stutter. saw it on the discovery health channel.

Well that nice,i hope you are able to afford one because i know people with speech impediments and it makes them very uncomfortable when they stutter.

Have you contacted the company about donating one to you? I need what is called a bone stimulator to help the new bone in my leg grow but they cost 5k. My doc contacted the company and they donated one to me.
