Or how about the formula of strontium and iodine when they form ? it is for my science homework :(

Sr and I…. look at what family they’re in to find out what charge they acquire as ions - elements on the left of the periodic table get positive charges, elements on the right get negative charges, then cross the numbers over:

for example, hydrogen and oxygen:
they form ions: H1+ and O2-
cross over to get the molecule they form: H2O
