Belief: How has belief helped to shape your life (positively or negatively)?

I’m looking for others input on the above subject, WHATEVER information you FEEL like posting is valid and appreciated. Whatever this topic brings to your mind, please feel free to comment here whether it’s something your family taught you, something you’ve learned on your journey through Life or something your religion or spiritual experience has taught you. Please be advised though that the material I gather here may be used in a book which I intend to write. I will reference any material used, back to whoever/wherever it came from according to credentials used to post it.

I found out about Help.com because I originally googled the term ‘emotions’ to start my search for information on the subject, which led me to place a response to a post here ( http://help.com/post/109741-how-many-kinds-of-emotions-do-human#reply-47898 90 ).

I’m looking for absolutely any information e.g. How has a belief in something or someone affected your life? Where did your belief come from (inherited, teaching, faith)? What affects your beliefs? What do you believe/have faith in the most? What sustains/justifies your belief? What’s the most important thing in your life and why?

I’m also starting a similar post on ‘Searching for input on Emotions / Feelings’

Please don’t hesitate to add any comment you feel for either one.

Thanks!
John

There is only one kind of belief good enough for me. Reasoned belief.

For me belief in the trinity has given me a sense of security where without it i felt lost, not knowing where to turn.We must always believe in something or we we will fall for anything.

Thanks for the responses thus far!

Felicity, I meant to say on my other post to please feel free to add me as a friend and thank you for asking :-) …I was a little distracted by the necessity for my last post. I was a little torn between the fact that I’m searching for input on emotion, yet felt I had to ask someone not to respond based on their emotions :-( …that’s a tough one, but I can’t condone the ‘putting down’ of others based on their beliefs, because it’s my belief that that is wrong ;-)
