Has anyone heard of something called pay-per-channel television?

Think of it as you pay for each television channel you want, instead of paying for a “package” (and then having to upgrade to the next package just to get one channel).

Have any of you seen this type of service out there? (commercial or otherwise)

I’m not talking about pay-per-view. I don’t want to pay each time I view a movie channel…

I want to tell the “TV Company” what channels I wish to have: Disc, Hist, NatGeo, SciFi, etc. I would pay only for those channels, and they would be the only channels I would have access to.

Then, if I want to add a channel, I wouldn’t have to buy the next package up, I would simply add that one channel.

no you could just get Dish-Network500 that gives you pay-per-view for free as my family calls it free-per-view this gives you the ability to watch PPV at all times any channel you feel like watching at all times for free. the satillite is called DishNetwork 500 be careful don’t get the DishNetwork 300. =P

Yes, you can get it here, but only if you buy the package first., Eg. I pay 42 dollars for my package, and then I can buy more channels for $1.50 per month.

who do you use? I have Dish Networks, and they only have about 6 (what they call) ala carte channels. Otherwise, I have to buy packages and can’t buy individual channels…

and to anyone who is stuck on this: I am NOT talking about “pay-per-view”!
I regret even using the term “pay-per-” in my OP…

I am talking about buying individual channels such as Sci-Fi, TBS, TNT, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and any other “regular” channel- but doing so on an individual basis. Think of it as creating my own channel lineup with only the channels I want.

P.S. - xLOCKEx - do you know who the company was?

It’s a Quebec. Canada post and you get more channels. For example, if I wanted the five you mentioned I would have to pay 42 plus (1.50×5) = 49.50 per
month.
