Mathematical Help:

Please can you help me with this probability question:

Two identical dice are rolled simultaneously.

Find the probability that the total score on adding both numbers will be greater than 7 but less than 10.

can you please also explain how you got the answer?

Well the longer way of doing it gives you more insight into what is going on, so what are the possible combinations?
Well you can have
1,1; 1,2; 1,3; 1,4; 1,5; 1,6; 2,2; 2,3; 2,4; 2,5; 2,6; 3,3; 3,4; 3,5; 3,6; 4,4; 4,5; 4,6; 5,5; 5,6; 6,6.
That’s 21 different combinations.

Now the sums of the numbers are
2, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7; 4, 5, 6, 7, 8; 6, 7, 8, 9; 8, 9, 10; 10, 12; 12
That’s 21 numbers again.
And there are five of the 21 between 7 and ten. So the probably is
5/21 = 23.8%
