Creativity; What is it to you ?

Creativity to me is our true nature, its inventing, re-inventing, experimenting, growing, breaking rules and having fun.It is what makes life worth living. It gets stifled when the rules are followed. It can solve almost any problem. The opposite of creativity is discouragement.Creativity arises out of spontaniety. And In advertising creativity is the mothers milk. As parents, we may insist things be done our way just because we automatically assume our way is the best. In doing so, however, we discourage the development of problem-solving skills and creative thinking in our kids. Without realizing it we devalue their unique perspective and gifts. It may take more time and effort to try a different approach, but you may be surprised at the solutions your kids come up with. We are gifted each of us differently and every member of our family has something unique to offer. Ask yourself where your kids possess skills and abilities you may not have.

I love creativity.
As a child i was totally into lego. I was building everything with it. Only problem i had was the limits of what i could build cause i did not have enough lego`s.

Even today i`m feeling this creativity living inside. I see you when you talk about doing things this way or that way. I find that people usually do things in a way that`s easily improved. I work very systematic and i use my creativity to change my surroundings to make everything easier and faster. Sometimes it is the smallest thing that makes the biggest change.

I`m also thinking in all this. If i ever get any kids i would be supporting their creativity. There is no limits of what you could come up with if you let your mind do it`s thing without too many limitations.

Sometimes creativity needs guides. Especially when you are trying to create a complex system. However, you are right by saying that blindly following guides for no reason other than you think it is the best way or has been done a certain way can inhibit creativity. So to balance the need for guides in creativity with the need to allow for change in creativity, we need to teach people how to determine or make guides to use when creating something. Take some time to determine what they need or want, take time to inventory what they have or can make, then make a plan to use those components to make their creation, and then start creating.

Hmmmm…this post has me thinking. I used to be a lot more creative in my life than I am now. I remember when I used to work in childcare that I would set up the most wonderful experiences for the children and it would be fun for me too! The children in my classes used to get very dirty and I would warn parents not to dress them too nicely. Children learn through their senses and play. They have to be allowed to touch and manipulate and explore. I used to get such a feeling of accomplishment and fullfillment. Those were some really good times. Playdough, sand, spaghetti in tubs, all kinds of colors of fingerpaint, mud, water tables, planting seeds and watching them grow, cooking, building, making music with most any kind of instrument…I could go on and on.

I need to re-create those times for myself now. Thank-you for reminding me.

creativity is brilliant. having a creative mind can make you laugh rather randomly. it can also be abit like your worst enermy when it plays tricks on you and creeps you out. without creativity we would all be very boring. we would all be like blank pieces of paper and wouldn’t say much. its really cool when different people have different opinions and are not afraid to express them too.

without creativity you get bored as you dont think about what you want from life aswell. so you don’t have fun striving to gain your hopes and dreams. and just except things how they already are.

It’s something that comes from within, something inspiring, that grows and grows as your mind flows from your pen to your paper.

It’s a wonderful thing. imo. Where would we be without it?

All children have a special gift. It is our job as parents to make sure that gift is given to the world.

Being creative is the best way to be one with God. There are times when suddenly out of nowhere I get an inspiration to create something, I just cant wait, irrespective of the time of the day and the work load pending in front of me, doing it becomes the most important. Once I start creating its like effortless, spontaneous, I just know what to do and when. My consciousness move out of the dimension of time. On completing it am amazed with my own creativity. I couldnt have done better. Feel proud when someone praises my creation, but inside I know it was not me, it was the hands of God working through me.
