Food For Thought!
And you think that selling is not important…. well check this out. Nothing happens until someone sells something. I am not referring solely to the selling of products and services. I am talking about selling yourself - your ideas, opinions, values, desires and objectives. There is nothing you can obtain in the human experience without the skills of selling. Selling is communicating! We learn how to sell even before we learn how to speak. Children are some of the most effective salespeople there are. A child who wants an ice cream or a toy will apply every sell skill in the book, with relentless persistence, until he or she closes the sell. Here is what’s most important to understand: we all sell, all day, every day. It amazes me when someone says, “Oh, I am not a salesperson.” then they launch a detail sales presentation with all the reasons and supporting points to backup their assertion. That is selling! We all make several dozen presentations everyday whether is it selling a friend to go see a movie we are excited about or try a new restaurant. Maybe you are selling your boss on why you are late, why you need a day off, why you need a raise. And maybe the most important sale is when you convince the person of your dreams to pick you to spend his or her entire life with. Even the parents, most especially the parents, need to refine their selling techniques. Parents need to sell their children on their principals and values…before the drug dealer on the street corner sells his. I hope that helps all of you who think that sell is something of the devil. Please refine your thinking about one of the most important thing you can learn in your life.
