The best fried green tomatoes in Louisville
If you’re ever in Louisville, Kentucky and have a hankering for good down-home cooking, check out the Goose Creek Diner. It’s in the north-eastern edge of the city so a bit out of the way for a tourist who’s here to see the Derby or something like that. But it’s worth the trip out just for the fried green tomatoes.
Truth be told of course, it’s not the tomatoes that are so special it’s the “creek sauce” you douse the tomatoes with. A creamy thousand-islands-based sauce that just really complements the taste and crispy texture of the fried green tomatoes.
Now I’ve only ever had lunch there (it’s near the office where I work) but I”m told the dinner and the weekend breakfast buffets are pretty good as well.
