I want to organize a petition to rework Help.com!!
This post is to request ideas that will be incorporated into the petition. If you have any ideas that you think would prove useful please respond.
There will be a number of volunteers chosen from here to help author the petition so. If you wish to help write it, tell me why you should be one of the authors.
After the petition is written it can be posted here for everyone to view and to critique before it is posted on a blog. When it’s posted on the blog site everyone will have a chance to comment on it and those comments will be the actual signatures of the supporting members from here. This will require that no comment be made anonymously because then it can be considered false or worse, like someone posted twice.
If this is to be taken seriously it must be treated seriously. Thank you..

Thank you sir, you are appreciated.
okay people, im not even going to lie. i cant be bothered. i keep getting ivites to go check this thing out or that thing out. and yet when i ask the simple questions, NO ONE GIVES ME AN ANSWER. i have no idea, how much time, effort, and possibly money saving help.com would take. but why change, save or anything, something that isnt broken?
people keep saying that posts will go, and it will be a blog only help site. yet when i ask when the f***** are the creators expecting completion, i dont even get an answer. infact, what the f***** is going on here. where does everyone think this change is coming from? and why is it happening?
again i have no idea, what is going on. i have no idea how these things work. but just like a mobile/cell phone, i dont care how it works, as long as it does. and while help might have alot of spammers, be slow at times, it is a site that works! so why change it?
and what is this petition about anyway?
im sorry for being rude, and i dont mean anything offensive towards you personally barely. i just dont understand, why this is happening………
I think I read somewhere that its happening in June 2010. Why? Nobody knows.
Matt we are not trying to change anything, we want it to stay as it is, posts intact, so we can help others. We don’t care if blogs are also added, that can be nice for the social aspect of things, but we like and want to do what we came here for and that is to help people when they have a need.
okay so this is about help staying as it is. which i like. to me its not broken so no need to fix it.
thank you for clearing that part up.
but, does anyone know where all this talk and speculation of change is coming from?
I think CBS told the Moderators, and they told us.
okay. so is there any money to be made by the CBS in doing this? i mean this site is voluntary as i am to believe. and with all this possible change. surely it would cost the CBS alot of money. so what do they get in return?
It doesn’t have to cost a lot of money if volunteers are willing to help with it..
A good petition on google.com will draw a lot of attention to our cause.
sorry for sort of changing your post barely, i didnt mean to. im just trying to understand, what the point is here.
anyway getting back to your petition, what exactly would you be stating in it? …….
I’m fixing dinner so I’ll be in and out at times, bear with me here everyone.

One of the mods leaked it, they both had a convo about blogs on a post and i saw it. i commented and the truth came out. i was a bit miffed to hear it so i invited everyone i knew on help to that post. i asked if someone might be able to make a petition and BANG! here we are.
Mat CBS the company that own this site want to scrap it, chuck it in the bin and start form scratch to build a brand new site. this site will not have Posts, it will have Chat, Blogs and Profiles. people wont be able to post Anon anymore. it will turn into another BEBO, MYSPACE or FACEBOOK. we want to keep the posts and keep on helping people.
barely wrote:

you get my shout? i shouted you.
what do you think?
Well stated josh.. and I’ll check it out now..
oh thanks josh :)
i hate facebook, and myspace. they are so fake and pretentious. so if thats what they plan to do, then its a sad thing. maybe they want help.com to have the reputation that myspace does?
i guess, if it happens it happens. but i will sign the petition. because i like help, the way it is.
Josh you can edit with what is in your shoutbox. I do not want to part titled, “things help does not need”, all the rest is fine, and you add your name to the edit.
If it’s going to be a help/social site those things would be welcomed.
This is what i have as far as a petition you guys. anyone want to run with it? add too it?
We the bellow signed. Users of Help.com have decided to petition CBS, The owners of the Website (Help.com) in light of the plans to redevelop the site in a way that would render the name Help.com redundant. The proposed plans of redeveloping this site and removing its key functions namely the posting system and the Anonymous posting option in favor of Blogs and a chat room are not popular amongst the current user base.
Several suggestions have been made favoring help.com be left as it is but have increased profile page functionality. for example Blogs appear on the users profile page’s and the current posting system continues its function on the main pages of the site. We would like to have Help.com remain a site where people can come for advice and support. This site is great becuase of its simplicity, accessibility and ease of use. any significant change away from the current format would be detrimental to this site.

Not sure why everyone is always going off about changes to the site. First thing is that there will not be a big group of people working on the site. It will be the developer and his team of two or more and no one else will have any access to the site. They might stay to the main theme of the site or just can it all for scrap, and sell the name. I suggest that you wait and see what happens and leave it at that. Hope this helps :-)

thanks for the meds jj :) a hug, and taking care of me, would always be nice as well :) hehe
i cant deny jj, im not very smart with technology. i just dont understand why people would want to change something that isnt broken.
anyway i hope you had a nice day :). and im sorry if i offended anyone. it just feels that everyone wants to change things, yet no one understands why, or will give simple people like me :P, an answer, as to why.
Thank you but the last time I “waited to see” the doors closed and someone said well why didn’t you say so, that’s a great idea, but it’s too late for ideas. Lesson learned, but thank you.
I think everyone seems to be getting off focus here. This post is to develop ideas for a petition to CBS/CNET not stress or whether it will or will not change for better or worse. I’m personally not willing to adopt a “wait and see” attitude. Lets petition them with our ideas and see where it falls after that.

Social Websites command huge amounts of advertising money, company’s look to aim their advertising at people aged 15-21 s they are impressionable and impulsive and react and respond to adverts better than older people 25 and over generally who don’t respond to adverts quite as well.
company’s will pay huge amounts of money for advertising on social networking sites like Myspace and Facebook as those websites mainly attract 14-21 year olds. this makes these websites potentially very lucrative and valuable. these sites can change hands for millions if not billions of Dollars just becuase of potential income from advertising.
oh right. so thats what they get in return then. they spunk out money on a better site, more like myspace. and in return allow the sharing of advertising between them, and other sites. from a business perspective it makes sense. but then thats not helping anyone, except their deep pockets. what a shame that is. if that is the truth behind the why……..

i think thats the reason, they will make a social networking site and dangle it in front of Google or Microsoft and hope one of them opens the checkbook and pays some crazy amount of money for it.
jjlove wrote:
Find out what they want for the help.com name, and we’ll just buy it from them and do what we want with it. It is a great domain name for nearly any help purpose. Just sayin’. …You used to be able to find the name of the owner of any domain name through Network Solutions, but I don’t see that option there now. Advertising rates are based on traffic. Help.com, according to Alexa.com is the 18,295th most popular web site on the internet. Not bad, but fair. It ought to be able to be purchased for a reasonable price if they want to get rid of it.

the name is one of the most valuable things about this site, they will likely even sell that for quite a lot as its a first result in Google. its a well known address. they may even keep it. i don’t see us being able to afford to buy it to be honest.

If it’s of real value they will not sell, but who cares. Lets come up with ideas for what we want and need and like.
Positives:
1) Everyone likes the fact that they can post about problems.
2) Everyone likes the anon button.
3) Everyone likes the ability to help others.
4) Not everyone likes chat here but it is used by the more social younger crowd.
5) Lots of folks use blogs, (I do), so why not add them.
6) Nobody likes the fact that you cannot delete your profile and just walk away.
Any others that any of you can come up with please do..
number 6 isnt a positive barely.
i like the fact that this website is pretty easy to use.
I thought because it was it stated a fact that no one liked it became a positive.
i only said its not really a positive, as you could argue for and against it quite easily. while the others are deffo positives, that one could be said to be a neutral. mainly as you cant come here, spam and delete…..
although the option to delete would be nice.
Matt.. do you wish to help with this petition idea? I could care less about arguing with anyone here. If you do then come up with ideas or things you like and stop picking it all apart. I want your ideas, I want what you like about it, I could care less if you like my ideas of suggestions, but I’m trying to get people to expand on this idea. So please..
im just simply saying from a neutral perspective barely. yes i do like this website, and i like it the way it is. and i will sign a petition if thats what it takes. but if i can pick apart loop holes in it, and im not even that smart, then what is CBS or whoever they are, going to think?
i dont wish to argue either, so am sorry if thats how it is coming across.
what i like about this website is….
-its easy
-everyones opinion good or bad, can be taken into consideration.
-its a quick inter-ractive webiste. where by the posts have maybe one minute delays if that.
-theres a vast amount of knowledge, about emotion, feelings, society, and technology.
-this website doesnt seem pushed, or fake like myspace.
-the people here are alot friendlier
-the layout is good.
and well i just like the fact no matter who you are, you can post to look for that help you need.

Eh, They don’t care, the admin is already working on the new version, nothing’s going to stop them. It’s been a fun ride, guys. Glad to have met you.
Thank you Matt, and you Ikari. I just want the petition to draw their attention and consider leaving the “Help” portion of Help.com as it is. Let them cater to a bunch of social butterflies but allow us to help others as we have been.
We want posts also.. that’s the reason for the petition..

posts are going…. blogs is the new help.com
Blogs are to slow and clunky to help anyone. why do you think the ning sites failed?
why do you think myspace and facebook isnt already doing this? becuase it doesnt work with blogs!
Blogs are not for helping others on a minute by minute basis, they are for sharing your life, your ideas, your thoughts, and yes your problems too. But, the posts are in “almost real time”, with a bit of lag, but they do still work.
I say let them add the blogs for the social networking side of things, but do not lose the posts and their helpfulness.

Sophie. say your boyfriend hits you, right. and you are sat on the pc. you type in help. you find help.com, they make a blog. it takes a day for her blog to clear, longer still for someone to answer. each second is just another second in which your boy friend could decide to beat you again. maybe this time to death.
with the current blog system this is how it works.
Log in as annon, leave a post. it gets hits almost right away. i or someone else with the knowledge of organizations that could help her immediately can respond minutes after she logs in.
that is why help.com is great
So it’s considered a benefit that supposing I am intent on suicide and I put up a blog and it gets approved two days after I do the deed, why was that useful, and how did it help me?
If I’m in trouble emotionally I want help now, I need help now, I want to talk now, not two days from now..
An Undisclosed Location | 4 years, 2 months ago (3 hours, 15 minutes after post)
and don’t say Chat. you know what chat is like. if you get actual help in a chatroom then you better buy a lottery ticket.
Log in as anon, type post, confirm post, submit post.
REPLY.
time 5 minutes.
And when you do that you’ll have five people there ready to listen and/or talk..
That is where the magic lies in help.com..
An Undisclosed Location | 4 years, 2 months ago (3 hours, 18 minutes after post)
see this : Log in as anon, type post, confirm post, submit post.
its really just that simple.
keep that, add blogs to our profile pages.
thats what we want. POSTS BEFORE BLOGS!
Sophie.. we don’t want the world to change and we’re not trying to change help.com we just want the ability to help those going through the dark places we’ve already walked through and lived to talk about..
An Undisclosed Location | 4 years, 2 months ago (3 hours, 22 minutes after post)
Bebo, Myspace, Facebook, Blogger, Twitter. they all work like this.
Sign up. contact info, email info, password, send, email received, activate account, welcome, fill in profile, invite friends, blog… no one wants to here it.
as you can see its far more complex and takes a good 20 minutes.
sigh
I’m not quite sure what this petition is supposed to do
None of those things will matter, Help is supposedly getting a new face

never noticed. i look at the main page where the posts come in and i look at those and respond.
I did.. and that was the idea, but to also set one up on another site and register it with all the search engines and web crawlers.
More mods…after all this page is meant to help ppl, and with all the trolls and fake things that are said, it’s hard to accomplish that end =P
Also, I think we can’t forget that this isn’t a social network: this isn’t meant to meet new ppl, and to have fun, etc…this site it’s just meant to help ppl to solve their problems, whatever they are…if someone is rly into this site, and has gotten addicted, or rly loves talking to ppl in here, they should find a wayto talk to those ppl in other pages, such as Facebook, MySpace, Bebo, etc…
I think that the changes should make easier to provide help, instead of making easier the customization and the ability to communicate with other users. For that there should be a better way of viewing posts, of getting notices, a more friendly user interface, and also a way to make tags work better…
At least that’s my idea =P
I haven’t had time to read everything, so I don’t mean to restate anything but one thing that kinda annoys me is how many replies you can get after you make a post but after about half an hour it gets buried under everything else. I don’t know if I’m missing an aspect of the site, but I’d like some way were that wouldn’t happen so easily. Though I don’t really know how.
I think the site could in some ways benefit from slightly more social aspects. No, you shouldn’t be on this site if your just trying to meet people, but the social aspect creates more of a community, which means more users will stick with the site, which means more feedback.
But the acesability of the site and easyness to just post is definitly a plus that needs to stay
I agree with both of you, 2511, and nowhereman. Both are valid points and will be included in the petition.

Great! =D
The idea, is, kinda to post your post, get helped and your post is moved along.
Of course, that idea needs helpers to be able to help you in the time it’s there.
Back when the automatic tagging was working, then pretty much everyone got helped, now that’s it’s broken then the right people are not reaching the right posts.

that is a bad justification for this. If that’s it, then why can’t help mod fix the tag system?
And the tag system never did diddly **** for me….
Just wondering, what was automatic tagging? I think I joined after it went down

Not many Mods, and I think you need an Admin for that =S
It worked for me…also the New notices used to work
I propose that one of the things that should be on the petition is:
A “spell check” button you could click when you write a comment, or make a post.
&
I think that peoples “voted quotable comments” shouldnt just dissapear(after a new one is entired when you allready have 5), there should be a scrolly thingie that will hold to atleast 20 quotes.
-Joy.
I agree with both those two points. Spelchek wold be very nice

This post is to request ideas that will be incorporated into the petition. If you have any ideas that you think would prove useful please respond.
There will be a number of volunteers chosen from here to help author the petition. If you wish to help write it, tell me why you should be one of the authors?
After the petition is written it can be posted here for everyone to view and to critique before it is posted on a blog. When it’s posted on the blog site everyone will have a chance to comment on it and those comments will be the actual signatures of the supporting members from here. This will require that no comment be made anonymously because then it can be considered false or worse, like someone posted twice.
If this is to be taken seriously it must be treated seriously. Thank you..

Things HELP.COM needs :
1. The current post system, with notices.
2. Anon feature.
3. The ability to delete profiles.
4. Profile pages.
5. Friends list’s.
Things that could improve the site :
1. Reworked home page.
2. Clearer TOU and better link.
3. Spell check button when you make a post, or comment on a post.
4. Scrolly that will hold “voted quotable comments” that will hold atleast 20(so they dont just dissapear)
5.
Ideas for funding :
1. More add space. there’s plenty room on the left side of posts.
2.
3.
4.
5.
I don’t know what can be done to help, but making the site faster. It takes me up to a minute to jump around from post to post
I agree, the lag has gotten really bad and notices take forever, lol..

No I didn’t add anything to the post when I edited it except work on lag to the funding ideas section, then realized that part was for how to get money, not on how to spend it so thats why I said never mind

Hmmm, honestly, when I came on to do the ModQ this morning, the site was the fastest I’d ever used it
It seem like it’s better today to me also samm..

* You can get spell check on Firefox and Google Chrome for that.
* Quoteable comments, well if you have 20 then that’s way more extra work to load a profile page = more lag
So yeah more things = more lag
I feel that the best way is to keep it simple, don’t change the format for posts or for those helping, but add whatever they want to attract the social crowd.

How about…
We keep it like it is, and try and get CBS to forget we exist again…
Come on Ikari, you liked it here before you became disillusioned. If it’s fixed are you saying you wouldn’t like it all over again?
An Undisclosed Location | 4 years, 2 months ago (5 hours, 27 minutes after post)
If it’s fixed….
Doubtful at the moment unfortunately.
Maybe so, but I’m willing to try to support what I like as opposed to sitting back and watch it fall down while hoping someone else will take a stand.
An Undisclosed Location | 4 years, 2 months ago (5 hours, 32 minutes after post)
Well, I suppose you are a better person then I am. Have a blue ribbon and a tiara. You win.
Geeeezze Ikari, I’m not any better than anyone else here.. I just don’t want to see it go away..
At least I tried something.. even if it fails..
An Undisclosed Location | 4 years, 2 months ago (5 hours, 35 minutes after post)
Though, think this way, if we got this site shut down, nothing here, then cnet would follow in it’s tradition of releasing this sites source code. We could make help, but without worries of the bosses at cbs ******* us over…

Hmm, I kinda think that if the sites more publisised and as much as I hate it too controlled by cbs, then more people come to the site which is good

bleh. That’d make them change it into a social networking site faster then you can say Jackie Robinson.
True, but I still think the only way a site like this can do really well is with more people on it. If no one got on it except for a few people, it would be kinda sad
I need ideas for the petition guys, I don’t want to squabble over views of where it’s going to end and who will rule.
I want to know what you both like about it not your view of a dismal death of a website.
What did you like about it and how can that be brought back..
An Undisclosed Location | 4 years, 2 months ago (5 hours, 42 minutes after post)
I like the people. I like that it gives me something to spend my days on. I like the opportunities it gives me to sound wittier then I am. I like helping someone out when no one else knows. I like fixing posts to display youtube videos. I like feeling like I am useful.
Alright sorry barely… I guess I’ve already said what I think, other than that the sites pretty much good as it is as far as I can think of right now
Exactly.. thank you sirs to both of you, it’s very much appreciated..
do not remove the anonymous posts!!
Thank you belle, I agree with you.. sometimes people wish to talk when no one knows who they are, and it can open a lot of doors for them to do so in that way.
What else do you like about the site?
Ok.. lots of specualtion and hearsay going on but heres my two penneth for what its worth….
I like the way help is set up now, when a poster posts a genuine need for help, its nice to see the “real time” replies that come in, everybody thinks differently and it gives the poster a feeling of support and some options and direction to choose from.
Id like to see some privacy involving the shout method of messaging, the ability to follow shout trails doesn’t allow for privacy, this I know can be dangerous but it set up so that should a user experience hassle, i.e a female user gets unwanted comments from a male or older male, she should be able to reveal the conversation or have a moderator read the chat that took place.People are sometimes entitled to private comments on personal matters, and help doesn’t lend itself to that option. Young girls have often wanted to pose questions to older females about sensitive issues, it would just be nice to answer these questions in private at times. :-)
I don’t think the law getting tougher is a bad thing at all Mas, seeing the young girls that are taken in by peodophiles posing as kids, not a bad thing at all.
I would just like too see them add an area where 2 users could exchange personal info. You know, privately, not in the eyes of any johnny jumpup with a keyboard and a screen.
pragmatist101 wrote:

There is a feature to let two people exchange email addresses.
Mas this post is to gather ideas for a petition and it will go out on the internet but I also want it to draw attention right here on the site. Thank you for your views and I agree the laws will probably get tougher on the net but I think that’s a good thing to a degree. If it keeps the younger set safer, or the criminal element at bay then it’s working.
And regardless of past history, good to see you.
yep I see that side of it to Mas, it is risky for unqualified people to give advice to suicidal people, Ive always thought that, but as we know there are those out there that cant afford the professional help they need, and therefore they come here. Obviously there is a risk involved for the site to be sued, should a suicide occur and users here were involved, naturally the owners of the site would be seen as more to blame. I think things will happen that’s out of any of our control. We either like it or lump it I think. As Barely said, the important thing is to keep the kids safe. Im off to bed nite all xx
Sasha I like that idea. I think if the shout box was more private some people would take more advantage of it, though there is always the chance it could be abused by some.
Regardless of whether I have a problem or not, I’m trying to look for answers. And you’re correct the petition is to save what’s already here. I want people to say what they like or did like, not to suggest changes that will take money to fix and then maintain. I also stated at the beginning that everyone knows what they don’t like and some have stepped up to voice their dislikes, which is ok by me. But I’m trying to keep it in a positive perspective so as to not let the negativity control the direction of the post.
Thanks Mas..
Something else for funding, CBS should chuck in their own little news thing for the latest of what they’re doing and their news and stuff with links. Or another network, but I doubt that CBS would like that.
Also, I hope that the ‘deleting accounts’ is for admins only. I don’t think people should be able to delete their own accounts.
Finally, make the tags work, I want my new notices back!!!
J.
Thank you Mas for your supportive words, they are appreciated.

I think it would be better if anonymous posts were not allowed, so as to reduce the number of bogus posts made –and maybe even a waiting period before any users can post at all (forcing them to answer other posts, and in general, to familiarize themselves with the site, before even being able to post one of their own)
I dont think you should do away with anonymous posts. it would eliminate the privacy when someone wants to talk about something private or painful. Thats part of what I like about the site. I think that is should be easier to flag someone though. maybe get a certain number of flags and a post is gone or something.
I think the anonymous posts should stay as well.

Barely - there are some great ideas in here but unfortunately the members of this site are being lied to on a daily basis (as well as a long term one). This comment wont last long but trust me - Yourabi had the Mods lying to this site for months. We had to lie and pretend there was still going to be a new Help.com (even after the roll-out of the site was officially cancelled), we had to lie about the tags/notices/avatars and call it maintenance. What you are seeing is a gradual erosion of what was a really great site. Think of it as a Rolls Royce being broken into parts - all fine and working but a lot better when they all worked together. This place is doomed, it has been since last year.I was lucky to be part of it when it was running and will always be grateful for that part - Mas1st
Mas, I’m not concerned with lies or who they were initiated by or who was told to tell them.
My concern is that this site does help people. That alone adds a value to it in my eyes. I’ve watched the posters ask for and get help right here in front of me. I’ve even helped a few of them myself just as you did at one time.
There will be teens and young adults that need our help as long as people keep having babies and when this site is gone where will they go? Web MD?
As long as their is a chance to fight for help.com then all those that see it as a value to themselves, or place to help others, or both, need to help fight for it. I’m one of those.
Those are some interesting ideas of improvements.

Not everyone can(or would want to) have to download somthing that could very easily just be added to the page. It would be more convient to just be able to click a button then to have to open a new window to spell check your work.
&&
Fine. hold atleast 10, 5 is a ridiculously small number.
Some way that comments that have been reported can be hidden from everyone on the post but that the mods can still see it. Maybe one of those arrows, where whoever reports it can make it go up and a mod can make it go down? If that makes any sense.
Many people(long-term users who are known on the site as well) don’t have the courage to post non-anon sometimes. So anon is good. Spell check = awesome idea :P Its not that hard to add either, right?
Also. NOT more mods but BETTER mods. Which this site is sort of confusing a lot :/
Rules for mods. (!!!)
I love the homepage and profiles as they are ,I dont want this site to be turned into myspace or the like, I suppose its simple but good enough :P
Thats it…
Aaaactually no I forgot one more thing. You should be able to delete your posts, replies, or edit them.

me too :)
I think their should be a ignore button, that would be nice
i think there should be a limit to what tags there are, for example when you tag your profile to make sure you get sent the right posts, there should be a multiple choice list of tags. Then when you make a post you can choose only up to a certain number of tags that represent the post…
maybe this would make it more effecient when trying to get the right people…

Gratitude for the site would go a long way.Changes that I think would be helpful:
1. A rule that posters cannot attack other posters, this has caused more angst on here than anything else that I can think of. Some people thrive on putting others down, and everyone should be allowed to share their opinion, without being attacked, or banned by mods. Respect should be demanded from everyone. If one person says things are green, and someone else thinks they are blue, fine, both people should be able to state their opinion, with further attack. We can disagree, without being disagreeable.
2. It would be nice to be able to have a button to click to invite all friends at one time, without having to click on each one individually. However, I am sure that would be abused, so, I suppose that is why it is not available.
but silencing debate would almost be fatal to the site so it would have to be managed very carefully…
unless help.com opened a new area where debate and argument is allowed (rather than people looking for help)
arguing with others is one of the best ways of learning. I know its sounds harsh but who you argue with on here, you will probably never meet so as human beings its probably beneficial to argue here than in the real world with people you know…
In my opinion, anon posters should not be allowed. More often than not, they’re just on this site to get attention. When you offer advice, you never hear back from them. If you are sincere in asking for help or giving advice, why not take claim to it as opposed to being anon?

I don’t know, but the fact that posts currently are erased and otherwise mutilated and closed is one of the bigger drawbacks when trying to find help through the search and tag systems. I understand the point of moderator activities (I think), but still it’s a shame to try to read through my posts and see endless “This reply removed” messages.
I don’t know about everyone else here but at times I will search through past posts just to get an idea of what to say to someone that’s stressed over a problem. Or as a means to decide how to converse with them about a problem that I don’t feel I have enough information on. The tags are the only way to do that and sometimes they let me down. I would love to see it fixed or maybe narrowed down to about 10 or 12 tags.
I’ll leave the post open for the weekend, but after the first of the week the writing will begin on the petition. Any volunteers interested in helping shout me please.
Thanks.. ‘b’
I don’t think I can help write a petition but I will certainly sign it. I don’t see how we can help each other without posts. If it becomes just blogs then I am done.
I agree Vyki, I do not want to sign in and view a blog, I wish to help others on an immediate basis like everyone else.

The tags will only bring up one page of search results. The search engine gets more posts (you have to enable “boolean search mode”.)

Oh yeah! I knew I was forgetting somthing else I would like to have “added” to the site is the “invite all” button for your friends. Thanks for bringing it up!
I also agree, mods should have guide lines and rules.
ORR maybe.
A SUPER MOB!! XD
Like one of the people who made this site :O
I also think there should be recomendations for become a mod & not just oh you have been coming here over a month HOW WOULD U LIKE TO BE A MOD?(im sure there are a few more then that but it should be written down some where.)
How about an election for Mods? An election season, and election day, with candidates.
THAT WOULD BE AWESOME.
I vote for Joy because she’s my friend and is nice to me. :)

I want to organize a petition to rework Help.com!!
EVERYONE KNOWS WHAT THEY DON’T LIKE AND WE ARE NOT TRYING TO FIX IT OURSELVES, GIVE US IDEAS..
Thank you..

Please invite everyone on your friends list to at least view this post.
Guys, Add to this list , Do not take away from it. Edit the post and add a suggestion to the relevant subsection and number it as its been done.
Things HELP.COM needs :
1. The current post system, with notices.
2. Anon feature.
3. The ability to delete profiles.
4. Profile pages.
5. Friends list’s.
6. For the user to be able to delete their own posts.
Things that could improve the site :
1. Reworked home page.
2. Clearer TOU and better link.
3. Spell check button when you make a post, or comment on a post.
4. A scrolly that will hold atleast 20 “voted quotable comments”(so they dont just dissapear after 5)
5. Less lag
Ideas for funding :
1. More add space. there’s plenty room on the left side of posts.
2.

In my opinion, anon posters should not be allowed. More often than not, they’re just on this site to get attention. When you offer advice, you never hear back from them. If you are sincere in asking for help or giving advice, why not take claim to it as opposed to being anon?Read up to what I said before. And isn’t trying to get attention a cry for help?
I will concur that calling attention to one’s self could indeed be a cry for help but; more often than not, these anon posters should be willing to own up to their posts by having some type of identity. Again that is just my opinion for whatever it’s worth.
Ahh Mas, nice to see you, the woman who keeps getting banned for telling the truth.
Too late, Mas has been banned again, unbelievable. I have to say, I cannot see anything in what she said, that was bannable. Are bans now just handed out regardless of the TOU? Just interested.
Good post btw Barely, I think it is an interesting way to approach the situation.
Yep, Mas gets feck all but dogs abuse and bitchy comments on this site and thats from the mod team. Shes right about a lot of her points. There is no hope for a site when the mods are left unchecked to act like clowns. Not all mods but a few do. Bans are handed out on the principal of i don’t like your attitude so your gone.
Shes right about the posts, how about only registered and verified users that sign up for an account and the Original poster are allowed to comment on posts. that would be pretty affective in wiping out trolls. and stricter rules on derogatory comments, it is a site for help not slander and abuse after all. and such behavior from the original poster or from registered members should be handled with a 24 hour ban.

You first. :)
I think a ignore feature would be awesome…..and please stick to the topic..
..okay, then I think it’d be cool if there were a Help video game from one of the links, where you can hunt trolls and help little creatures in need, thus collecting gold stars in hopes of one day becoming a Super Helper.

I thought this pretty topical.
it is a suggestion on how help could be improved.

That could be awesome. Are you by any chance really good with computers and have the knowledge to create a game?
As I’ve come in like a few days late; have we got a list of the things we’d like changed so far?

A feature where you can’t leave a shoutout to yourself. I always make that mistake.
The thing I hate most here is trying to search for my old previous anonymous posts under subscriptions. It takes too long and it’s easy to forget my titles. I just wish there was a page set aside for them where I could view them altogether. I think some people keep posting the same questions sometimes because they lose their old posts. Those old posts may contain good responses already.
There should be a spell and grammar check feature…I can sure use that. I need it.
Spell check can be turned on in your browser, ask anyone here to show you how.
And who was banned, was it Mas1st, and why was she banned. Now I’m going to be really pissed off because she may not have pleased everyone with her comments but she is **** well allowed her opinion. I could care less who her opinion upsets she is still allowed to voice it on my **** post. Who banned her and why??

Really????
Wow! Amazing!
How do I do it?
What browser are you using pink?
Is it firefox, google, or IE?
barely wrote:

Internet explorer
Just IE, or do you have the google toolbar also?

Thanks..I was doubting what to answer…haha…
I want a spell check when I type my replies…OH…it’s already in the list on your post.
barely wrote:

Just IE Barely.
I will shout you with the fix for that in a few minutes..

That would be great. Super duper thanks.
a feature where you can creat your own chat room. So you could be chatting with your group of friends here on help. It’s so hard to keep up in the current chat room cause everyone’s chatting to someone and I get left out…so if I can be in a more closed chat room, with my friends, that would be awesome…It’s like YM’s conference feature.
They are working on that, and I think you can open your own room right now with the new program they are running, but don’t quote me on that one.. thx, lol..

Already there.
Just make your own room and then invite others too it.

Really?!? Super cool! I haven’t visited the chat room cause I feel out of place there. I’ll go check it out…
Thanks for the heads up.
Wow, who knew the TOU endorsed totalitarianism….

Makes sense.
Doesnt make it any less reprehensible in my eyes because its so easily misused.
But yeah, I get it I suppose.
I, like so many others are upset because MAS1 has gotten bannned for speaking her opinion but we need to let this go and move forwward. In doing so, we can make this site better than ever.
Mas was banned for breaking Tou, moving on and PLEASE stick to the topic
I just had an idea. How about a way to chose what comes up for the “help me with:…” thing. Because some posts you may want more help on and you may make a more recent post thats not as serious

Maybe, but I certainly don’t have the time or resources, that’s why I suggested it for the petition list.
