I’m a complete nervous wreck.

I’ve been started on a depression drug, Alti-Fluoxetine, in the hopes that it might make my day-to-day life a little easier. Unfortunately it takes about two weeks to take effect. In the meantime I’m left with cold and flu symptoms. To make matters worse, I’ve been having daily anxiety attacks and spend all my time worried and irritable.
There was an “outbreak” awhile back of teenagers in Japan who took this particular drug and then killed themselves. I’m starting to see why. I’ve been on it for three days, and it’s only going to get worse before it gets better. It might not even work in the end, and I’ll have to wait awhile longer before it wears down.
So basically I’m sick, angry and depressed. Any advice as to how to survive the next two weeks as the chemicals tear me apart from the inside?

Don’t be alone. Keep around the people that love you and take care of yourself. It wont be long until you feel better. And if the medicine isn’t working maybe you should see a doctor.

I know how you feel. It gets worse before the medication kicks in but it does help in the end, trust me. you need to distract yourself in the meantime. Do whatever you can to remain busy. Remember, that grey matter in your skull knows all your strengths and weaknesses and does not take to kindly to medication. So do whatever you need to to distract yourself and remain busy until you are comfortable with the medication. Depression is a tough illness but it is managable. I’ve had it…. it’s had me for over 20yrs and i can still see life is a wonderful experience and not one to be missed. you never know what’s around the corner. good luck.

walk walk walk!!!!!!! I’ve been there, twice in fact. if you walk, the seratonin in your brain will naturally increase. It will definately help you to feel less depressed. keep talking here too.

Im a nervous wreck ! OMG I worry about everything. It seems like everything is coming down on me. My health, my job, my kids. My boss freaks me out. My co-workers freak me out. The economy is scary.
I just found out there is something in my breast. I have a knot on my skull that I am concerned about. I am afraid I am going to lose my job and my health insurance. I worry about everything ~! Gawd !
