Horse help: FEEDING HORSE THAT LIVES IN PADDOCK. - Help.com

FEEDING HORSE THAT LIVES IN PADDOCK.

Ok a horse im going to be getting, will be adjisted at a Pony Club, and I was wondering do I have to feed my horse twice a day still, even though its going to be in a paddock so it has free roam of the grass ? Im going to be at Schooling 2 1/2 days a week and its going to be hard to feed my horse in the winter these 2 days a week after schooling since its going to be dark by the time i get there. Can i just miss those 2 feeds a week, or is it fine to just feed once daily ?

Thankyouu.

Ask the people who sold you the horse. Or ask other people that you know have a horse. That’s what I would do. I would think if a horse is to be fed twice a day, then you feed it twice a day. You don’t want your horse to become emaciated do you. Horses are suppose to be bulky.

I had a horse when I was a kid and I had to feed it twice a day. I made a deal with some other people and they would feed my horse in the morning and I would feed theirs at night. Maybe you could work something out like that…

So your horse is the same size as you… cool. Yeah you’re a little girl 5′3″ and your horse is a little bit bigger than average so it shouldn’t be a problem, he won’t even know you’re back there. Just remember to always let the horse know you are the boss! My horse was 16 hands and it was a Quarter Horse. Actually I had an Arabian first but it chewed up everything it got near. Fences, stalls, trees, you name it so we got rid of it…
