WHY will YIM not install on my computer?

:(

My OS is Vista (unfortunately), and I’m attempting to install YIM 9.
I’ve tried running as administrator, turning off my firewall, restarting, and swearing profusely. It gets about a quarter of the way through the install, then says that it was unsuccessful. There’s no evidence on my computer that it attempted installing at all - no partial files, nothing. Is there something I’m missing? Is it a common occurrence with this version of YIM? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
