Where were you?
You can also watch events on Help.com as they happen
An Engineering degree will easily set you up for a career in software; you’ll just need more on the job training. Your knowledge of engineering mathematics and the common engineering skills will be valued. Employers don’t really care what your degree is in these days, as most of the specific training is done on the job.
What part of the world do you live in? Ever thought in pursuing a path down hardware IT (Desktop support, Help Desk Tech, etc)?
I know a lot of people who went for engineering and turned their butts around to just the basic troubleshooting of printers. It doesn’t pay as much, but it can keep your interests high
lol I was in the same position as you before I loved anything technology. I am awesome with computers etc….
I was on a fast track to going to GT or MIT but I soon realized I could not work with them as a career and I thought to myself what I wanted to get first it was a MBA (1 week) but no its J.D. degree (an attorney)
So i mean it all depends on what you want to do not what other people want you to do…if you like business then go with the MBA
sweet mother of god… i certainly didn’t expect replies within minutes of posting…

@Anonymous #
no wayz, man… tried it for a month, ran away from the place… couldn’t take the workload… didn’t help that the place was full of backstabbing s%$#heads… businees seems fine, but i’ve not much clue bout it.. reading up on it, but as of now, its not helping much….
was born n brought up in the middle east, guess that gives me this soft spot for oil, rigs, offshore stuff… not to mention the GOOD PAY… just a thought, though….
another thought: working as tech support kinda brought bout this interest in networking….
COMPLICATION: i’ve got this gal i’m real serious bout… here in india, girls are married off soon after college… her folks don’t think i’m worth it n r busy searching (matrimonial sites, for christ’s sake)….
do gotta find my calling… SOON….
Oh sorry thought you said you were interested in software, not electronics.
electronics is a good field.especially if you like to repair things.
There is so much cheap c*r*a*p that needs to be repaired all the time.
I hate to see so much stuff thrown away.e.g. laptops that don’t work.

Ahhh, well coming from an American, there is plenty of IT work in India XD (No Offense, but the Americans who read this will crack a chuckle)
But if you’re planning on moving to Malaysia, try to find work out there that would interest you and tweak your studies to that while you are still in country
As for your girlfriend and your cultures, I am keeping as far away from that as possible. Anything I say may cause a war, and we are up to our knees in that lol
