I have a ferret and hes about 4-5 years old.

I started to notice that he is loosing a lot of weight very quick. He won’t eat or drink, he just lays around and does nothing.I seperated him from my other two cause i didn’t know if he was sick, and i didn’t want them to get sick also.So i want to know is he dying from old age or what cause i want three ferrets NOT two.

A quick google search told me ferrets live 7 years on average, so old age seems unlikely…you may want to take him to a vet. If you do, you might want to call first…I’m not sure all vets know anything about ferret ailments but I’m sure some do.

Hi, I have seven ferrets. There are many things that may cause a fast weight loss and refusal to eat. Did your ferret eat something it should not have? Like rubber or a blanket piece? He/she could have a blockage. I would suggest going to a ferret knowledgable vet as soon as you can. Not eating is very serious for a ferret, as their digestive system is pretty short.

You should make some duck soup/ chicken gravy and feed him her that. You can also soften some of their regular food and mix that with water and chicken baby food.
