ahhhh man…join the club! I’d apply for benefits!! :D…only for while your looking for a job of course…lol
20 places is a small amount nothing worth exaggerating about.
I don’t know how you found 20!!! There are like…well…none where I live! :P
NotoriousKYA wrote:
Yeah well… thats the only places in the area of me
than look in a new area.

You live in a desolate area devoid of all business?
No… not desolate and devoid of all buisiness…i dont have my own car.. I need something within walking distance… until i can get a car…
**** you. I called other places but they arent hiring either.. and all the other businesses around here are doctors offices private family owned and etc.. places that either arent hiring or dont hire people outside the family or without degrees….
How about a bus? Cab? Freind?
How far is walking distance for you?

Dude…are you talking to me? Or Da 11? I’m not sure, lol
bus and cabs cost money… but aside from the excuses.. I am looking and I haven’t stopped my search.. but wtf.. why are you arguing with me.. I am trying my best to find a job and no one is hiring..

Its hard to imagine a town filled only with doctors offices. If everyone is a doctor where you live why the need for doctors or doctors offices, all one would have to do is go see dad or mom.

ok cool, just checking :D I totally agree with you btw

20 places is not trying your best; and its not enough to say “No one is hiring” 20 places is a very small number. You should be trying to apply to 20 places a day.
I didn’t come on here to talk to an idiot please go away.
You dont know the area that I live in.. It is busy and thriving but there arent any jobs available.
No one calls you back. EVER. and I call them back.. I follow up.. I apply and re apply..

Its a lot if you live in a really small town!

What did you come here for? did you think someone on help.com would give you a job?
Did you want someone to be sympathetic and tell you it was ok to give up looking for a job because you applied to 20 places and no one hired you?
NotoriousKYA wrote:

Hard to imagine a place that is busy and thriving with no jobs available. A place with jobs available is not busy and thriving its stagnating and dyeing.

20 places is to small a number to say “no one calls you back” - 20 places didnt call you back, try more places.
No. I didn’t think anyone was going to give me a job. Your just trying to be a jerk and I don’t understand. I came here to rant… out of frustration or maybe to get some good advice.. not to be told im not trying hard enough when I AM.
I wasn’t looking for sympathy I was looking for other people like myself. To see if its this bad everywhere.

I’m not being a jerk; I’m telling you that you need to look at way more than 20 places before you claim no one is hiring. That is the truth of the matter.

During the 2001 recession it took me three months to find a job even with a degree that I had just gotten. I applied to 20 places or more a day for that time.
To find out what other people do and if there are other oppourtunities out there besides retail or fast food that i am over looking.. And I will try more places… I AM trying more places.. Just before I got on here I just filled out like 3 applications.. 5 yesterday. Besides trying to find a job I am a self employed artist and actress and I have a fiancee and two roomates who I spend alot of my time with trying to clean the house and drive them from place to place…All my free time i spend looking for a job.. driving here and there from store to store and sitting online filling out applications.. gas isnt free either…
What is the point of apply at places that arent hiring?
I apply, I call.. i get told they arent hiring.. then i move to the next one on this list.. the same routine.. over and over.. and im just getting really scared because I need a job now.. my relationship and my future depends on it.. my fiancee is getting angry … I mean im talking about losing the person i love the most if i cant get **** together.. i don’t think im slacking off here.. I am trying
i have to go pick him up from work now. I will be back later.

To get your name out there.

the fiancée getting agree is a different problem all together. He can’t expect you to find a job in the current market over night. If he is getting agree over something that is out of your control I would advice you to think harder about marrying him.
Does the fiancée have a car?
Yeah we have one car and he works 10 hours a day. So I can only have the car available from 4pm to 3 am.. Which isnt bad but he works far away and we barely have money for gas driving to and from.. in order for me to have the car in the daytime i have to drive him to work at 3am and pick him up at 4.. which is about a quarter tank a day… we are trying to work it out and im sure we will.. im fairly optimistic but at the same time its feels so difficult to get going when I need the money RIGHT NOW. He’s very loving and considerate and never said much about me being unemployed until just recently when things started getting really tight… hes super tired from working long hours at a job he hates and just wants to be able to have a nice real dinner for once instead of mcdonalds every day.. all his money goes to bills and he dosent get to enjoy any of his money or even have a decent meal.. we are always scraping and he’s getting frustrated.. the past 3 days he just started getting angry saying that i had a week to find a job or he wouldnt pay for anything anymore because two people can’t survive off of one income.. and i can understand that completely.. it just makes me sad to see him so frustrated and stressed out.. and I WANT to work.. SO Bad… I want to work im tired of being bored… im tired of not having money and im tired of him being so stressed all the time…
We have been together for a year and a half and budget ourselves perfectly and always share.. but im not contributing anymore.. and havent been for a few months. I can blame myself for it up until now.. now i really am trying hard.. and i cant find anything ….yet.
Have you tried to get a job in the same are where he works. That way you can be working at the same time he is. You drive him to work and than go to work your self and than go pick him up when you get off?
Actually, yes. I put an application in at his job. He works at a factory assembling panels… My dad works there too. They havent called me back and that was 2 months ago. Im wondering if it is because my dad and fiance work there… im 21 by the way.
What about places around the factory?
electrical panels* .. I mean at this point i dont care where i work.. after i was forced to drop out of college because of lack of money and funding.. i was like all egotistical and didnt want to work anywhere like retail and fast food.. but at this point.. im desperate.. im willing to degrade myself to get ahead.
I understand that; back in 2001 when I just got out of college and couldn’t get a job in my field I was very loath in getting a job in retail or fast food. But you do have to start somewhere; and you can always aspire to be the mangier at a fast food place or in a retail place.
Why couldn’t you fund college anymore? Did you try loans?
ive applied at wawa, superfresh, target, royal farms, acme, jcpenneys, tgifridays, Ihop, power electronics, the dollars store, happy harrys, walmart, and a couple of them i applied at more than one location… um i feel like im missing some i might have lost track.. cato, sallys, and even some state jobs.
I cant get loans and funding because my parents “made too much money” even though they dont…and have horrible credit and so do i…. and because im not 24 married or with children.. and my parents can not contribute anything to my education.. im on my own. we are all scraping to pay rent and insurance.
One thing to remember; things work out; and things are always tuff for 20 somethings. If life was easy at 20 than their would be nothing to look forward to later in life.
have you tried banks? they hier for teller with no degree.
No i havent actually. im terrible at math though.. although im sure they use computers lol.
Have you tried online job sights? Like monster?
yeah i tried one and when i applied at the jobs and called them the next day every single one told me they werent hiring and that the site was wrong…!!
but now i just look for store numbers and call them directly and ask if they are hiring before applying
NotoriousKYA wrote:

Try; you dont need to do math all that much, not more than counting.
tomorrow me and my friend (she’s in the same position i am) are going to go to a social services place to apply for foodstamps and medcaid… i dont want to .. but i have gallstones and they are beginning to cause me alot of pain so i need to do something i was just taken off my moms insurance because im 21.. foodstamps will help me and my bf out until i get a job and maybe there is a job service there.. but i bet alot of people are doing that these days…
Have you tried going into business for your self?
I am a self employed artist… but thats not working very well because in order to sell paintings i have to HAVE paintings and to have paintings i need money for canvas and paint.. and well, im sure you see the problem here.. besides the fact that no one has money to spend on art these days… www.serratedcrimson.deviantart.com
me and britney were thinking about going into cleaning houses as our own business but we’re afraid of getting raped lol
Post a replyNothing wrong with social programs when you need them and you are trying to do better. I’m the type of person who does not agree with those programs; but as long as they exist I would partake if I qualified. Always take what someone else is willing to give you.
So self employ your self in another way. Go door to door asking people if they need any house work done. You can make quite a little bit of money doing that and since it will be in cash no tax; which mean you will by default be making more than in other jobs at the same income.
dont go into any house that looks like you may be raped - thats all. You dont have to worry about the little old ladies who need a room or two cleaned up - and they pay the most.
It’s very hard to find jobs right now, I searched for 6 months before I found one, and cash is still tight. I didn’t read all the other posts but have you tried internet job sites like craigslist or careerbuilder? Just be careful there are a lot of scams out there like “work at home” things.
I know times are tough, but checks at my company, based really on commission sales in energy drinks and weight loss are up over 30%. We’ve got a product that is in only 15 of the 200 cities with over 100,000 population. Some major room for quick growth. Fill out the form here if you’re interested in seeing if it might be a fit for you. I work it about 2 hours a week make about 800/month. http://www.becomingthechampion.com
do you have any resume? your resume could be the gate for a job. simple. if it’s attracting, it will attract employers and if not, then not. another thing, do you always prepare for interview? try rehearsing and do mock interviews.

That may be one of your problems, actually. Employers respond less to applicants who can those who actually stop in to make a good impression. Every 4-7 days stop in at each business and show your face and ask if they still have your application on file, just in case something changes and they need to hire soon. Just because they aren’t hiring today doesn’t mean that they won’t have someone quit suddenly tomorrow and if the manager needs someone fast, they will call whoever has made the best/biggest impression on them first.
Good luck getting a job. and just ignore the certain someone from above. They might get your post closed.

very good advice
If you haven’t tried this already, try craigslist.com. Look for your country, and so on to pin down your town or the ones near by. Then look under the job section. Good luck job hunting.

and no.
I have applied to 36 places… No one is hiring where I am at either! :( PISSES ME OFF!
Be persistent at those places that have better jobs. I applied to about 40 mining offices until I finally walked in the door of a place that had just got an opening for someone with exactly my qualifications. They gave me a plane ticket to the job site and I flew away two days later. Be persistent.
hello, are you willing to relocate to find a job?
Just curious to know. That might have to be an option for you.
You had stated that your fiance hates his job now…..
There are users on help.com that are hiring for instance…
to be english speaking teachers in China…. hmmm, try to think
outside the box? Perhaps you could work for the govt, being a reservist in
the military….
I hate to be mean here, but I know someone who has to apply for 20 jobs per day… No joke, everyday!
