I need a way to put some traction on my pools aluminum ladder steps.

They are currently plain (slick) aluminum steps. I wanted to place some grip tape of some kind on the steps to give them some traction. A different pool I worked at placed some type of grip tape on their diving board. They had to have an auto body shop cure the adhesive with a heat gun. It’s been there for a good 4 years and has not come off. I want to do something similar, even if I have to blow the ladder steps with my hair dryer. Any suggestions?
