Does my writing show promise?

1st I DO NOT CLAIM TO BE A POET. I’VE NEVER DONE POETRY,
the following is simply my feelings put into writing because I do occaionlly journal. This just so happens to have a poetic feel.
SO, I WANT TO HEAR THE THOUGHTS, FEELINGS, AND INTERPRETATIONS FROM YOU, THE PEOPLE, THE UNBASHFUL AND TRUTHFUL! haha…

V
I feel like air…Like suddenly everything I’m not, I no longer feel–my past, my body, my thought–gone. But everything I AM I don’t feel. Is that because I’m nothing, or because I’m not in a place to feel?

I really believe I’m something, but my head got spinning so fast all my thoughts got torn away, torn apart…
Now I don’t know where to start

I really do believe I’m something, but I don’t know where to start.

ps- i’m in my late teens.

That’s pretty good, and hey, a lot of the time, as long as your passionate about something, you’ll succeed. :] Keep trying more and more, continue writing, and sure as heck you’ll get somewhere.

well thanks…

i’ve been thinking about how weird it seems…that someone’s thougts, their raw emotion, and manifestations of their life experience should be put up for peolpe to judge and denote good or bad. just because it is what it is, i guess. who am i to judge something you create and tell you if it’s good, or not, you know? it seems as long as something is meaningful, REAL, etc. then it shouldn’t matter if it sits well with anybody else aand they think it sounds nice…anyways, thanks alot for your reply, i really appreciate it!

You’re completely right.
That’s how I feel.
But the best part about putting yourself out there, is that a lot of times you WILL get good responses. And eh, criticism every once in awhile.. but when you let other people read your work, most of the time you’ll feel better and more positive about it.
I was always nervous because I am a writer myself, of what people would think, and how I’d be able to handle rejection, but it became easy when people praised my works. Emotions are a quite personal thing to write about, so extra kudos for letting everyone read it. :]

Yea, you’re right too. I think it’s good for people to put themselves out there, because by doing so they may be able to help someone else in the process. However, I don’t know why we (myself included) have to worry about how “talented” we are…I’m such a perfectionist at times, and it seems I only pursue things if I think I can do them extremely well. And I really think that writing is something I would enjoy doing just for myself, keeping a journal, or something. And for some reason I found myself worrying about whether I have any skill as a writer. But, why the heck should I care about that? I’m not putting a book out there. If I write something raw, something trul felt and genuine, it is a piece of art in itself, and its quality should not be defined by its reception among other peolpe….Are you feelin’ me still?

Of course. Completely right. I think there are several types of authors. One main one being people who write novels, and other articles of information, because they enjoying publishing things for the public, and entertaining people though words. Others like writing to release their feelings, express how they feel, but not necessarily need that acceptance from other people- the type of writer I believe you to be. But of course, it’s natural to wonder about talent, but just remember that you have as much talent as you think you do. You just have to believe in yourself.

Hmm, well you’re certainly right about my writing style. The only time I ever find myself writing is when I am full of emotion, or need to express something that I, at times, can’t explain or understand until I put pen to paper. It’s like by writing I communicate with myself. Yeah, I suppose it’s completely fine to wonder about talent, and I’m sure I’ll continue to do so.
I’ve heard the “just remember that you have as much talent as you think you do. You just have to believe in yourself.”, type of stuff so many times (not in regard to my writing) that I’ve forgotten how true it is! Thanks so much for your response and understanding.
