but anyway, solar doesnt really have any effect on the environment other than it takes up a lot of space and uses rare metals which are very limited on earth. There is developments making solar cells alot more productive per square cm but its got a while to go before its cheap enough and good enough for everyone to be buying it.

As for geothermal, its a tricky one. As well as being extreamly efficient (too efficient) it does release inner earth gasses and can interfear with the water table. It could i suppose draw up disolved chemicals which may be dangerous but there seems to be no problems where geothermal is used (iceland for example). But for as long as the earth exists it should not run out, if the water runs out then you have to pump it down and draw it back. As far as i know the only bi product is steam and a small amount of sulpher ect

Wind probably has the most impact as it requires many turbines to not that much energy. Some people call them eyesores but i think they are beutiful, but besides changing the landscape theye have little impact also. I suppose they arent that efficient cus the wind needs to be blowing and like solar cells they are dependant on the weather….

i cant really think of much else…

well i have to find out how much they cost per kWh and then find out there impacts on the enviroment. Then i have to answer a few questions about the best energy solution. At the end i have to make a huge poster about it all.

you have helped me with the main part and thats the part that i was haveing the most trouble with so thank you. I’m just really bad at science.

well its difficult to say about the cost per kWh. with geothermal for example it may just be used for heating, no electricity involved, but it still works due to the way you dont need electricity for heating. Of course most geothermal plants genorate electricity but you have to consider all the income/expenditure of each…

and it also depends where you are talking about. a solar cell in scotland is gonna produce nothing compared to a cell in the gambia… the same with wind, it depends where you are…

yea i know thats why im so lost

i found online that the average numbers are …
solar- about 30 cents
geothermal- about .03 -> .035 cents
wind- about 30-> 5 cents

but i dunno if thats right.

well i’d have no idea. neither should anybody really, it varies so much i dont know how anyone can state a cost on this kind of thing. where every you read that is probably just a guess or specific to a chosen place. Its unlikely it takes into account everywhere. My best bet would be to find out which ones are cheaper than the other, for example based on that data there, geothermal is cheapest followed by wind, followed by solar. Thats all you can really do without guessing… I’m sure its much more expensive to build a geothermal plant than a wind farm but hey, its a difficult taks youve got…

maybe you should take three examples, each a different energy source. so you do a bit about solar energy in spain, wind energy in the UK and geothermal in iceland. It would be a lot easier and then you can explain how the location effects the efficiency and how without knowing the desired location for a renewable energy source it is impossible to suggest which one is better…?
