Hey everyone, quick question, I’m in Highschool and joined the long distance track team last week.

Just after that time (About mid-way through the week) I started losing my eating habits. I never ate much, and now I eat even less. I get full so fast and I’ve got a constant feeling of illness of being both too full and still hungry. My body is refusing to eat, and I’m trying to force myself because I know I need to keep up my strength. Not really ‘force’ myself, just trying to get the food eaten, you know?
I’ve been staying hydrated, my body is in constant need for liquid nowadays, but thinking of drinking water makes me feel uneasy, so I’ve been sticking to milk.
What should I do? I want to keep my strength up and my stomach is starting to feel really uneasy and painful…

See a doctor, something’s obviously amiss.

I can’t afford going to the doctor. I’m sure it will go away. I was just hoping for some reassurance about this happening to people before, and it’s a normal thing, yada, yada, yada…

your situation doesnt sound that unusual, i was on track last year and i ran the 200 and the 4X4 relay. the training made me feel so sick like i was gonna throw up after almost every practice. even the thought of food made me feel sick for atleast a few hours afterward. now this may not work for you but i decided one day to find out how fast i could run baked out of my mind and it was the greatest practice ever. and i was starving afterward. after that i would usualy just burn a J before practice and it made everything more fun. and i took 2 seconds off my 200m time. If you dont smoke this may not be the best remedy but it worked out pretty good for me.

if you dont really want to pick up any illegal habits (like smokin herb) before practice id just talk to your coach as see what they have to say about it, they might be able to help you out more than i did

I don’t think I had the same problem as you, but there was a period where I hardly ate anything.
I mean, sometimes I ate a bowl of noodles and didn’t feel hungry for the rest of the day. Then maybe I’d have a bit of dinner and that was it.
Lately I’ve really been trying to eat more. It’s really a chore. I’m trying to train myself to eat quicker and to get my stomach bigger. My diet is getting better I think.

And no I never got to the anorexic stage, because I always tried to force myself to eat more, unlike anorexics who don’t actually want to eat :).
