Computers help: I have been having some real trouble with my computer lately. - Help.com

I have been having some real trouble with my computer lately.

At first I thought that it’s nothing. Then I noticed that my antivirus (AVG Free edition) is not updating for some reason. Then there are a couple of folders that just will not delete, giving me an error.
A friend told me that there might be some thing wrong with the registry and I should get it cleaned. Now here where it gets really strange . as soon as I go to the JV16 website to download the registry cleaner( supposed to be the best ) my Firefox and ie crash. All other websites work fine only the registry cleaner websites crashed.

I download the JV16 software at a friends place and brought it home in a USB. Now guess what, it wont install. The installer begins then just goes out. What am I to do??????? I don’t want to lose any of my data. Please help

Yeah your registry is FUBAR. Backup all your files an reformat the machine if you don’t know how to work with registries. If you try and fix it yourself without knowing what you’re doing, you will lose everything.

Ive had similar issues. The reg can prob be fixed if your persistent. There are many great free reg cleaners/fixers. Reformatting is a good solution of course, but I dont think your fubared yet.

Heres a few, all free. Tune-up utilities is my fav:
