Burst ovarian cyst.

My friend went to hospital last night and was admitted with abdominal pain. They thought first of her appendix, now they think it is a burst cyst in her ovaries. She is getting more scans this morning. Is this serious? I’m so worried about her. Is it common? Anyone had the same? What does it mean for her?

It’s very common in women. She has two ovaries so she should still be able to have children in the future. Try not to be too worried until you find out more.

Yeah, Ive never had it happen, but I know others who have, and apparently it is very painful.

She’ll most likely be put on anti biotics now, to prevent infections.

I think theres only a risk to her health if it is left untreated.

Burst Cyst occur when an ovarian cyst continues to fill with so much fluid that it begins to leak or rupture. When the fluid leaks into the pelvic cavity it can cause intense pain. Here are links to a video and an article that share the symptoms of a ruptured ovarian cyst. Also, if you get ovarian cyst, it is important to note that unless you deal with the root cause, they could continue to come back.
