How can I get help?
I have myoclonic seizures that prevent me from working, yet I was denied SSI benefits because I have no recent proof of my condition. I have not been to a doctor in over ten years because I have no source of income, no insurance, and welfare will not give me medicaid unless I work. Family can’t help with diagnoses because my family cannot afford to send me to the doctor. My husband does not live with me and WILL NOT support the kids and I. I cannot get on welfare because they expect you to work 40 hours a week, and because of my condition that is not possible. When I went to the welfare office they told me to go to SSI but they denied me too. Now I am left with 3 kids and no income living at my parents house. My father is 68 and still working, I would love to see him retire. I need help badly but don’t know where to turn to next. I live in Michigan ( of all places ), would love to go to college but I don’t know what jobs I could handle because of my seizures. ( my seizures cause me to lose control of my hand movements, I end up throwing whatever I am holding, and then I am left in a daze for a while. Stress makes it much worse and there is no warning.)
I would love to have some direction but I do not know where to turn for help, now that I know I can’t turn to SSI or welfare. Does anybody know if there is anywhere else I can turn to for help? Or at least a career I can to go to college for, I can get Pell grants, at least. Please help me!
